Josh Beckett (0-1, 3.14) vs. Ryan Vogelsong (1-1, 4.60).
And my chair was missing again.
This happens all the time.
It's inflatable.
Serious question (kinda): What's to stop the crowd from treating the inflatable chairs like beachballs? pic.twitter.com/nZq6HVtsHs

Apparently, you will pass out if you try to inflate the chair by mouth, so have fun with that!

Welcome home, boys! In addition to Haren, Beckett has been a pleasant surprise this season. He was pitching well but not deep into games — until his last two starts, when he went 8 and 6 2/3 innings.
Tonight's real question (besides: Will anyone have the endurance to inflate a chair and throw it onto the field?) is the offense, or lack thereof. Vogelsong has been all over the place for the Giants...but so have the Dodger bats. At least if they get told to siddown! they'll have somewhere to do it.

Happy Birthday, rbnlaw!!!
Get him a win (that he can't see on TV), you jerks!
It's a Beckett-Butera battery.
Chair-throwing night at the Stadium!
Happy Ignoring the NFL Draft Day!
We get Vin back tonite. I like Orel but just not feeling Charly.
Also got the HATE grooving.
We need a well-pitched and fielded game tonight. Let's start a long stretch of good baseball
Donnie announces that Matty and Yasiel will be in lineup everyday until they need day off.
hey, where's my dong?
Here we go...Diablo Pagan to lead off.
Does Morse oil his forearms or is it just really hot there this evening?
throw strikes, dummy
Beckett hits 93 on the fastball to get Belt for the 3rd out
I wonder which of our guys Vogelsong will hit tonite.
hey there's an inflatable chair near third base!
oof Vogelsong getting squeezed
that was strike 3
I like seeing the Giants fans showing up late to the game, dinguses
Beckett continues to be slower than mole asses.
Epale, peeps!
mole assess after a bottle of Imodium
I think I've asked this question before, but I have a Swiss cheese brain: Does anyone know who the guy who ALWAYS sits behind home plate is? Older gentleman, black hair, always wears a suit. Apologies if I'm dumb and I'm just supposed to know who that is.
oof, we're making Vogelsong look like an all-star
@Nomes is he in or next to the Mary Hart seats? And that's not Mary Hart in the Mart Hart seat
Yeah, tonight he's in Mary's seats, but he normally sits behind the left-hand batter's box.
Wait. Now he's directly behind home plate.
and there goes Beckett's no-hitter
Vogelsong is using pitches economically to retire us.
Beckett, on the other hand, is using all of the pitches Vogelsong doesn't need
we are coming strong with the weakness tonight!
hey a baserunner!
hit and run keeps us out of the double play
wow, great play by Crawford steals a hit and run
sheezus, Vogelsong with the hardest hit ball of the night
Vogelsong, leadoff double in the fifth. Hmm.
Vogelsong stays at second after grounder to first
grounder to third keeps Vogelsong at second, Posey to kill me with a 2-out RBI
wow, another quick grounder to third gets Beckett out of it
Matty gets us going
a walk to CC and we have something cooking
Uribe with the fly ball to right but Kemp tags to third, Butera up. Can he hit a fly ball and get Matty home?
and he does! 1-0 good guys!
OK Beckett through 6
Impressive that Beckett didn't allow Vogelsong to score off the leadoff double.
Also impressive that we scored first (barely)!
Let's knock this fucker out of the game this inning!
Not gonna happen Pubes!
Dee with the single to start the bottom of the 6th
Dee with the steal!
Nice discipline Puigster.
I like Dee's mustache very Ralph Tresvant like.
Two on. Big boys up. Gotta take It now.
Puig works the walk
Oh no. Don't ground out a third time Gonzo
Motherfucker I told you!
Can Adrian get Dee home?
Get us 7 Beckett.
Of course.
Back to the Kings
Didn't really think we were going to win 1-0.
except for that stupid meatball, nice job tonight, Josh
Too bad the bats couldn't help you
That was a lot more than I expected of Beckett. Let's hope the pen holds up (laughs hysterically)
Withrow to walk the bases loaded?
Let's go, blue. Kemp Ks.
Crawdaddy one-out single in the seventh
attaboy, CC
we are boring
dammit, uribe
Withrow walks Oyster Pubes. Here goes.
this is exactly the game we lose and exactly the game they win
Ducks lock this one up.
hmm looked late on first look
but he's out on second look
nice work, Chris
Impressive, Chris Withrow!
scout: Ryan Vogelsong may be running out of gas after 91 pitches; his fastball has dropped from a high of 93 to as low as 87.
Posey looks more and more like Napoleon Dynamite every year
(which Vogelsong follows up with 90- and 91-mph fastballs)
(scout, you idiot)
butera flies to left for the first out of B8
and here comes Chone, the .100 PH.
Why doesn't GameDay remember that you've unchecked the Scout option?
Alright, the Kings lost and I'm in a surly mood. Fuck the gnats, fuck the ducks, and fuck the color orange!
Are there any stats around the value of the out that Affeltd just got?
Affeldt got the grounder from Dee that advanced Chone to second. If he had struck Dee out, Chone would probably still be at first. I would think that in that situation, the K (or popup, or double play, etc) is more valuable than that grounder, especially if Casilla gives up a hit here. But in the box and the standard stat line, Affeltd did a great job but really he could have done better
nasty pitch
ferfucksake, I don't want to go to extras again. Just give them some runs now and get it over with
Has Nancy Bea been playing at the stadium? Wasn't she away early in the season?
ugh, Uribe with hammy issues. I hope that's not a real issue
He was gimpy a bit in either Miami or DC. I remember he came up gingerly after snagging a grounder one time
Great to see Kenley do well in a non-save situation. Now let's get him a win!
Hanley with a crazy swing
Crawford is killing us tonight
Come on Gonzo
Great question, FB. Wish I had an answer for you.
Gonzalez is slooooooow
I would like the old Kemp power to come back right about now.
Two strikes on Kemp. I'm guessing K
they can't lay off that breaking stuff
Yup. Kemp is garbage.
damn
extras
ok I quit
Paully and Saxy, win this one without me
Orel, you too
Night FB. I have one inning left in me and then I have to count my Matt kemp strikeouts.
Roger that, FB.
Not good.
Wright in. Game out.
The awfulest bullpen that ever awfuled.
Glad to see that Mattingly's pre-game talk helped rally the troops.
I agree Nomo. This ain't no WS team. Who bought these guys? Blind scouts and dumb ned?
Turned it off. Depressing.
weak sauce, bullpen
Sick and fucking tired of the Dodgers losing to the Gnats. Time to whip some ass,Magic!
