Mere seconds after Charley Steiner said "the Giants haven't had a lead in the last 30 innings!", the Giants went out and took the lead on the Dodgers, going up 2-1 in the fourth on a Oyster Pubes two-run HR. Steiner was then asked to sit with Brandon League in a soundproof padded cell.
Luckily for the Dodgers, Sax here moved to the television broadcast, and Tim Lincecum was starting this evening for the Giants. Hanley Ramirez led off the sixth with a one-out single, stole second, and scored on an Andre Ethier single. Ethier then stole second base (Giants catcher Hector Sanchez had not thrown out anyone all year), scored on a AJ Ellis double to left, and then watched AJ Ellis advance on a Juan Uribe single and come home on a wild pitch by Lincecum. The Dodgers led 4-2 by the end of the sixth inning.
Clayton Kershaw started the ninth but was pulled after yielding a leadoff single to Marco Scutaro. Enter Kenley Jansen, who let Pubes single, and then struck out Hunter Pence and Pablo Sandoval before getting Brandon Belt to pop to short for the final out.
The Dodgers sweep the Giants and are now six back of the division lead. This was the first home sweep of the Giants since 2009. It's also Kershaw's first win since May 20 (Kershaw: 8.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB and 7 Ks). Oh, and our season-high fifth win in a row. You'll take the fifth? I'll take a fifth, thank you very much.Phillies in town tomorrow for the first of four, starting with a Sandy Koufax bobblehead night.
