Post-Game 67 Thread: Passing The Bucs

DODGERS 5, PIRATES 3 (11)

Wow, I got the time of the GT all mixed up, meaning I missed seeing Clayton Kershaw's dominating start (7.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB and 8 Ks), as well as the Pirates' Travis Snider's game-tying HR (off of new closer Kenley Jansen) in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extras.

The Dodgers took the lead in the 11th off of an Andre Ethier leadoff double, a Mark Ellis sacrifice, and a Juan Uribe single. Nick Punto added a double to score Uribe and make it 5-3, the final score. (Old closer Brandon League had a very shaky ninth eleventh to eke out the win.)

Meanwhile, the Giants lost. We move to a single-digit number under .500. I'll take it.

League's ninth was so shaky he didn't even throw one pitch and he still sucks.

The last inning is always the ninth.

Brutal comments. Fair point though; edited

Jansen gave up the dinger in the 9th, but it was Donnie who pulled Withrow in the 8th just as he was getting his groove back. He should have stayed with Withrow in that spot. Hindsight being 20/20 and all that...

Russell Martin, 0-for-4, batting .247

DBTP: I agree wholeheartedly.
Saxy: Tough job you have there. I recognize this. Snark notwithstanding.

Managers are so weird about closers. You would think there was a rule on how and when you use them. So many different situations come up but no lets put League in cause he is our closer and even if he looks awful we have to stay with him until he utterly implodes. Now he isn't our closer so we can put him in any situation the deems appropriate. Fuck just do that with all your relievers and never name a. "Closer".

Somebody hijacked Psul's brain. Bring back PJ and let's go out on tour.

If you don't have a good "closer" then don't force it. Like a wise man once said " if you can't grip a fish then don't go streaking".

I think Jansen is the best "closer" but Dodgers seem to have the problem figured out. Don't be ahead in the 9th.
