Zack Greinke (2-1, 4.80) vs. Tim Hudson (4-4, 4.80)*
Tim Hudson once filled Adam LaRoche's glove with human shit. (Deadspin)
I repeat: Tim Hudson once filled Adam LaRoche's glove with human shit. Does that sound like someone who should get to win a ballgame? No, I think not. (The baseball gods may agree with me, since he hasn't won a game since May 5th.)
On the other hand, the Dodgers' season to this point has been the equivalent of a glove full of human shit. Just when they thought they were out of the basement, the Padres shoved them back down the stairs. I want to say that this series against the Braves can't be worse than the last one, where the Dodgers were swept in three games (after holding leads in each), but now it's a four-game series. OF COURSE IT CAN BE WORSE.
I'll be at tonight's game, but up in the fancypants suites, as DelinO was recently. I promise to give the proletariat a wave or two.
*Hooray for identically mediocre ERAs!

On the sofa, Vinny!
I hope Don Sutton hits a home run on his bobblehead night.
Human shit in a glove is still not as baffling and nasty as scribbling on Tommy Lasorda's nuts.
Puig single!
Humbug.
Puig hurt himself on that pickoff, didn't he?
looked like another hammy
Wait what?!
@Faner - it looked to me like he cringed after sneaking awkwardly back into first. Just my opinion. If he was an old man, they would have taken him out
They take me out after batting practice these days.
Please score runs!
I walked by the TV and heard Vin say "Twelve thousand men!" and immediately thought, "Oh shit, today's D-Day!"
Don't blow this score one.
@Orel
Or he was talking about how many Dodgers have been left on base this year.
Hey, an Olney.
Given our personnel who came up to bat after SVS and Ethier, I'll take the one run.
@Orel
I'll transcribe that Doug Harvey Vin-ette re Don Sutton's glove.
Greinke and Puig are both 6-14 this season.
Zach needs a haircut
attaboy, Timmy!
anybody else going to "arm day"?
@Paul: Zing!
@Dusty: Thanks, I just started watching.
@FB: Nah, I got two.
you don't want a third for, yaknow, other stuff?
Shit, Kings in the hole in the 3rd.
Kings are down? Dammit. Still working so can only watch one thing at a time.
Good inning, Zachariah
That was a great strikeout pitch for that 1st out of the inning for Tiny Head, wasn't it?
6:30 left for the Kings.
he's had some really nasty pitches tonight, but then he'll be super wild. He's very Haren-like
maybe he's not super-wild, maybe it's just batters not swinging at his nasty stuff
5:00
I don't think the final score will be 1-0 Dodgers.
Heat within 2 with 1:28 left....
Fuck yeah Cool-a-coo and free Stellas.
Free Stellas? Are you in a Google suite?
To be clear, was the Cool-a-coo free?
0:37 left on the Kings PP. 3:11 left in the game.
Forgot about basketball!
And I forgot about Dre.
2:30 left for the Kings....
Two minute warning, Kings!
1:17. Got a bad feeling about this.
Cool-a-coo was NOT free.
The hockey game was a 5:00 and the basketball game was at 1:30 and I knew the hockey game would finish first.
0:52.4
I'd rather have the free beer.
but worth the price, right?
Marqueese would have gotten that call last night
OK, I was wrong. Basketball game just finished. 0:18.2 left for the Kings.
Kings lose.
FUCK. Kings lost.
Basketball score?
Nyastay pitch!
Spurs win by 4
Makes you appreciate even more what the Kings did last year. 10-0 on the road!
Suck it, Lebron!
Exactly re Kings last season.
OK, next thing to look forward to: healthy Kemp, Hanley, AGon, Puig, Crawford, Ethier (?). Even if it's next year.
@Orel - if we can possibly, somehow, hang around for the next month, we could be in decent shape, if everybody comes back and plays somewhere close to potential
I hear ya, FB, but I don't see it happening this year. Even when Kemp gets healthy he'll need who knows how long to get his swing back. Considering Hanley, AGon and Crawford are already hobbled in one way or another, I don't know.
Wish I was home watching. I'm at some whacko car intro.

Even if that hitting comes together and injuries are overcome (iiiiiiifffff......), the pitching (mainly, middle and late relief) just isn't and won't likely come together.
Corolla, BJK? Can't say that's the sexiest unveiling ever.
@Dusty: But relief pitching is the easiest part to replace (even if Ned trades too much to get it).
@Orel - i don't know either, but I have seen over the years teams (in all sports) that get dudes back from injury and their teams eventually starting playing better. I hope we see it this year
I am most scared about the starting pitching
Braves starting early on their comeback
Once Zack gets right, Kershaw-Greinke-Ryu could be spectacular. Especially since the Giants' pitching is hurting. I think the D'backs actually have the best rotation in the NL West right now.
Great pitch, Zach! Way to stick with it. Sittdown, Swedish for Owl.
SVS's got a gun!
GO SPURS!
Goddamn that sucked ass saying that.
Atta boy Slick!
Lakers4Lyfe
@Orel
Replace relief pitching in-season? You're quite the optimist especially given that it isn't just one or two guys that are needed. Gurrier, Belli, League, pretty much everyone but Howell or Jansen are shite.
Bet BJ beats us here.
Upton, that is.
Zack wriggles off the hook!
Great game by Zach.
Zilch for Zack in the runs scored department.
So I was considering a trip to the Yard on Sunday. Then I heard Lilly was pitching. Then I heard Lilly was perhaps not pitching and therefore could be god only knows what other scrub.
MMMmmm...maybe not.
@Dusty: Make the transition from Beli-Jansen-League to Paco-Howell-Jansen. Beli and Guerrier become mop-up guys. Not sure what to do with League. Figure Ned will trade for at least one middle-relief guy.
If Gattis is such a big deal why isn't he in the starting lineup?
Shit, League in the 9th with a one-run lead?
I wonder how many free Stellas that Gnomes has downed so far.
That was a coitus interruptus T.O., Simmons.
Love how AGon calmly signaled "two out" after Schaefer was called out on the DP.
Only two, but they were tallboys. Woulda had more, but the fridge wasn't that stocked.
That's your fridge, Gnomes!
Ha ha, Heyward respects the arm of Puig!
Wow, Kenley Ks J. Upton!
Please get League 5 more runs.
Also, I'm driving.
Night FB
13-game hitting streak!
Sweet dreams, FB. Bloop single by Louie Screws for ya!
Thanks for joining us, FB!
You will either wake up to good news or to a lot of Belli-aching in this space.
OMG. RA for PUIG!
Rancho Hanliendo!
McDowell: "Just walk him and give them the run."
HA HA WAIT TILL FB SEES THIS!!!
Fuck yeah!
Goodness. This could get exciting.
PUIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
MLB.tv and the stupid delay fails me again. God damn it.
This kid is amazing, though.
That's what, four curtain calls in four games?
Vin letting the crowd tell the story.
"Nothing better than to be absolutely speechless to sum up the situation." -- Vin
Silent Vin is better than any other sports announcer.
Love it. We all needed this kind of fun.
Hit it the other way and it looked like he didn't even get all of it.
@Paul @ 9:22
There are your five runs!
I am dead. Dead.
It looked like he didn't even get that on the fat part of the bat.
Picked the wrong game to miss. Fk Fk fk
5 would be enough for League. But will it be enough for Gurrier?
Thanks for taking us through it, Vinny!
Cruz with the gatorade bath. This may be the best role for him.
We make Puig Fiesta!
I like how even Kemp said (tweeted) that Puig was a beast.
Donnie looks happy!
PuigGTUP!
