Chris Capuano (1-4, 5.45) vs. Phil Hughes (3-5, 4.89).
What are the chances that we actually earn a split by sacking up and playing an errorless game, for starters (I'd even take fewer than four)? Pretty unlikely, especially having to call upon Capuano for his first start since May 30. (Information on the Yankees' starter here is still valid.)
This Dodgers team is so rusty, it was no surprise to be Kuroda'd in the opener. Let's hope we're not Hughes-ed and abused in Game 2.

Yes! Cruz is the answer!
...to the question, "Who should the Dodgers have shot into space back in May?"
Yes. I'm with Saxy, this team needs more satchel.
(sacks up)
;-)
Main page updated with Vin Scully bobblehead goodness.
So...much...content today.
^ Seriously. I wouldn't legitimize the use of "content" but I read the shit...
LET"S GET A FUCKING WIN PLEASE!
So...much...discontent today.
I hereby formally apologize for referring to some of the tripe we post in this space as "content." It was a crude mischaracterization of the term, and I am sorry for defaming it.
Mmmm tripe...

Uh...thanks?
Rod Carew sure as hell couldn't hit the long ball.

I forgot that Vin was going to be on Twitter. Wish they would have advertised it more.
Jeter Jeter Jeter Jeter
I can't think of a good question. :(
I don't want to ask him a question. I just want to "listen" to him.
I'm archiving all his Tweets, BTW.

This makes me sad.
Los Angeles Dodgers @Dodgers 2m
Ebbets Field is gone. Old Yankee Stadium is gone & I haven't been to the new one. New York is basically a city of memories for me #VinScully
@Dusty: Oh yeah? I'm retweeting AND favoriting them.
We're winning!
But where is the game 58 PGT?!?!?!?!?!
Hanley! Puig run score!
I bet Vin is wearing a suit right now.
It seems Mr. F is a bit of a completist.
@Orel
So you don't want me to copy/transcribe the Tweets?
@Orel,
My OCD is bothering me. If you never mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed. Now that you've mentioned it, iono.
@Mr F: Let me tell you, that Game 58 PGT is going to rock your world. Better buckle up now just to be safe.
Backdate it so Mr. F has to go looking for it.
RF Bleachers just shouted out a roll call for "Donnie Baseball" and he tipped his cap from Dodgers dugout, per David Vassegh.
@Dusty: Don't let me stop you. Anything out of Vin's mouth can't get enough exposure.
They did that in Game 1 too.
You keep talking that trash, Mr F, we're going to do another Smonk contest and eat up 8 months of your life on earth.
James Gandolfini has died.
James Gandolfini has died.
Not to dance on the grave, but I will revel in all the people getting so upset and what a guy he was...while knowing what a genuine shitbag he was to everyone around him, except his heroin supplier.
Now I feel bad for his heroin supplier.
Hah!
Why Wikipedia is always my first stop after a notable death.
It's about time for another Puig HR, isn't it?
Loved him in Dream On.
Don't worry. He's going to come back from the dead as Gandolfini the White.
Let's recap the start of the first inning, for posterity's sake:
Schumaker single
Puig single
Gonzalez single, RBI
Ramirez single, RBI
Ethier...FLY OUT
Hairston Jr single
Federowicz GIDP
Andre. Le sigh.
Guys, we're slacking. Only 12 posts today (13 assuming a PGT). (No, not that one, Mr. F.)
=/
People normally don't comment around this time. People usually are leaving work and such.
Ethier didn't screw up!
contentContentCONTENT!!!
Tony Soprano has died.
Don't make me come over there, Spanky.
so, who's Tony Soprano?
bad joke, gotta get back to Byzantine, Islamic, Romanesque and Gothic art ...in English!
Everybody's left work.
Wait a second, Ethier doubled in a run in the third?
Guess he reads the blog.
Cruz, 0-for-2 so far
fun fact of the day: Luis Cruz has had one multi-hit game this year, back on April 10. His average shot up to .115 as a result.
And apparently a good defensive play by Ethier.
HanRam is sick!!! 6 hits in a flippin row.
Hanley-Puig!
Hey James Gandolfini died.
5-0! Hairston sac fly, scoring Hanley from third.
Glad that Ichiro lost that ball for a second, so that Hanley didn't have to test the hammy on the run home.
Fifth inning, two out. Wait, it's Fedex...three out.
5-0 LA, mid-5
Bottom of the fifth (inning, not my bottle of JD). Have to head out to a whisky bar that likely won't have the game on.Thank you baby GameDay!
nice barehand catch by capuano on first base covering
PUIG HOME RUN
6-0 LA
Puig, first pitch swinging. Wow.
A-Gon singles to center.
They're dissecting Puig's swing, and how effortless it is. Wow.
There's a ton of Dodger fans there, it's like the roles have reversed.
Not to belabor the "Eric Collins sucks" point, but he said, "It's got a chance!" when Puig's HR ball was already three rows deep.
Back in the hotel room. Why do I always miss the good stuff??
Puig: 27 hits in his first 15 career games. loveLoveLOVE
League you bozo.
.500 lifetime at Yankee Stadium.
Game 1 was the most frustrating Dodger game I have seen in person. Game 2 may have been the best. I can't remember a game where they pitched, fielded and hit so well and all in the same game. The first game can eat a dick
Errorless game? Check.
PGT up!
