Still No Headway On Headley

Via ESPN's Rumor Central page yesterday, Chase Headley is still in the mix for the Dodgers, along with seemingly 27 other teams:

Late Monday, ESPN Insider's Jim Bowden tweeted that six teams had expressed interest in San Diego Padres third baseman Chase Headley, and added that the switch hitter would be traded before the deadline "in all likelihood."

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been linked to Headley in recent weeks and other clubs needing third base help include the Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels, Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves.

With so many suitors -- a number that could grow beyond six before July 31 -- the Padres are sitting pretty. ESPN.com's Jayson Stark adds fuel to that fire, too, tweeting that it's unlikely the Brewers move Aramis Ramirez, further thinning the third base market.

ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney tweets Tuesday that Arizona is among those interested in Headley but that the two clubs have "strained relations" making a deal between the two a difficult task.

Headley, 28, will be arbitration eligible for the second time after this season and will not be free-agent eligible until after the 2014 season, making him a long-term fix for whichever club lands him.

I'm still excited, though not so much at giving away anything more from our thin farm system. I just want us to unload Juan Uribe.

I just unloaded a Uribe after I showered. Had Mexican food for dinner last night.
