The attack occurred in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium on Opening Day, and now the victim is in a coma. These tragedies seem to occur every year, and I get a knot in my stomach every time. Deadspin says "Holy Shit Los Angeles, You Might Have The Worst Sports Fans In America," which makes me think that we may be rooting for the same team, but these guys don't represent us. Our condolences to the family of the victim.

It's a tragedy, and an embarrassment to the city and the team. Cut it the fuck out.
When I entered the Satdium the PD was everywhere cracking down on parking lot drinking but I didnt see many after the game.
The thuggery needs to be stopped. I do not like my team being associated with Raider and Philly fans.
Fucking hooliganism. It's a blight upon our team, our fanbase, and our city.
Have no idea what happened...if this was random, it is deplorable. Nut there's also a take that I witnessed personally time after time on Opening Day; that is, juiced up ex-jock Gnats fans taunting Dodgers fans and really asking for a whuppin'. I was really surprised. These kids were getting in faces, pointing, etc. And I was thinking, that's the kind of thing that will get your ass kicked to the curb in the parking lot.
Not endorsing any violent response, but there really was a lot of blatant verbal and physical aggression from some Gnats fans that day...kids looking for a fight.
Security virtually non-existent instants where I was (Loge level), BTW.
Sickening.
I would beat Jimbo's ass in the parking lot.
@Dusty. You're right. It does go both ways for sure. I was up in SF at a game in 2009 and I was randomly called a called a bitch, told to fuck off, told I that I was a poser and couldn't name any Dodgers hall of famers (that was the weirdest one). I was genuinely surprised at how horribly I was treated. And not to be sexist, but seemed out of control to be so aggressive toward a girl. I felt strangely protected by all of the thuggish Dodger fans at that game.
All of this said, what happened on opening day is deplorable.
I've worn Mets and Giants gear in old Vet Stadium. And never had a punch thrown (though not without my share of threats, taunts and hate).
Beating up a Giants fan in the PARKING LOT. Just gives the whole team a black eye.
Though I doubt the culprit is a SoSG reader. (And Dusty's already proved his alibi)
I believe that only two SoSG readers were at the game on Thursday. Knowing Paul was too hammered to stomp anyone, we are both as pure and innocent as the driven snow in this case.
Having said that, if I would have been present during the Nancy Bea taunting, I would have had to start stompin' some chardonnay sipper ass.
It's disgusting and I'm sick of it. Worst I've ever seen was two drunken a-holes fighting over a beach ball. Yeah, a beach ball. It was at a Giants-Dodger match-up (of course) and they almost took out an old lady in the process. It's an embarrassment and it needs to stop.
