Jon Garland (-, -.--) vs. Kyle Lohse (1-1, 3.00).
Ah, that familiar deflated feeling. The Dodgers must be under .500 again! Who had 13 games in the pool?
Garland, hopefully recovered from the strained oblique he suffered during spring training, is making is season debut. He threw a rehab start in Rancho Cucamonga (or Cucomango, as I've heard it called), using 81 pitches in 4 2/3 innings and allowing three runs on six hits. Not exactly inspiring, especially at the Single-A level.
Despite hitting the ball pretty hard last night, Jamie Hoffman went 0 for 3 and was sent down to Albuquerque after the game. So you can say goodbye to the deadly 7-8 punch of Hoffman-Ellis.
There's not a lot of recent history between the Dodgers and Lohse — he only threw three games against them in 2009 and 2010, and missed them altogether last year. In other words, conditions are ripe for anything to happen. Will the Dodgers break their three-game losing streak? I'm hopeful...but not holding my breath.

At least it's Friday!!
cmon, Johnny, we need a good one from you tonight
Where is everyone?
Partying.
Partying.
Yeah.
I'm here. I'm anti-party.
No, Sax is the anti-party.
#HalfPriceBeer
Dodger stadium security must have kicked all of the riff raff out of the blog.
I snuck in.
Sorry. Couldn't decide which seat to take.
I should probably slip into something more appropriate.
The Brim wasn't really bringing the wins anyways.
Epale everyone!
I'm on my way to dinner with friends but I'll try to get back before the game ends. I'm sure it'll be a win, go Dodgers!
(just trying to spread some optimism)
@Mr LA SC 5:46: fun fun fun fun
We we so excited!
Full price beer! In fact they should make it $42 a beer!
Hello, Everyone!!
Checking in from my local MEX cantina. Crowded bar tonight but they put Dodgers game on as soon as they saw us walk in. Sporting my #42 tee tonight.
*withdraws from Roth IRA even at penalty in order to foot beer bill at Dodger Stadium, thanks to Sax*
I know I say this every year but damn it's great to see everyone wearing their pants the right way, if only for a day. Stylin', kid Gwynn!
Trying to stay positive so I will just say we suck.
Bullshit ump!!
Was that really a balk? I didn't see a balk. But I can't hear the sound so maybe I missed the explanation.
He waited until he was with the Dodgers to commit his first balk.
Good going, Jon.
There may not be a worse announce team then tonight's Cardinal pairing = Rick Horton AND Al Hrabosky. Except Buck and McCarver.
McCourt wanted to charge $42 for parking
Stadium looks pretty empty.
Freaking Theriot couldn't hit the side of a barn when he was with us.
Nice he got thrown out at second, though.
Warning track power.
In Rod We Trust!
Pre-emptive strike...
Vinny said "Berkman owns the world"
Translation: "Berkman has the world by the balls"
Seems unlikely we'll get to "200" in the thread tonight.
Dinner status: Filet-o-fishes and beer, bishes.
Yeah, you're not better yet, Jon.
How far does Donnie think we can get down and still have a comeback in us??
Jerry Sands hit another HR tonight.
There goes your NO NO, lohse!!
Next the shutout!
Wait, are we alive?
On the bright side, we could be the local AA team, Northwest Arkansas Naturals, who are losing 26-5 to San Antonio in the 8th inning.
Keep workin' on Joe Block, Nic. You'll get Sands called up sooner or later.
FJL?
Turd Biscuit.
Why does shit always have to get confusing with us?
Give us a crooked number, Rowdy Roddy!
42
Jackie gets the RBI on that one.
I'll take it, but we REALLY need to stop relying on the other team to score our runs.
I don't know why Joe Block is so quick to temper enthusiasm about Sands.
#dreamkiller
It's a start, I guess.
Well Kemp looks awesome. Can we sign him?
*cries*
Very fitting score, 4-2
Very sad score, 6-2.
We have gimpy player up. Brings back memories.
Another infiled popup.
Crappy call.
Bad call.
Casey must have hurt his back arguing.
Wotcher, everybody!
Dammit!
I'm at a formal dinner right now. The Dodgers have me depressed
Hello, MrF! You haven't missed a whole helluva lot.
Just the usual Dodgers sucking?
I love that Vin doesn't question the umpire.
@Josh
What is your beer pairing with that Filet-o-fish?
@Nic
Yeah I am surprised Vinny even acknowledges the strike zone graphic.
Why does Barajas always looked confused?
Cure for Pujols' early season struggles: Dodgers pitching.
well at least the umpire is consistent.
we should have the dodgers pitch to Loney and Uribe.
Tonight I'll dream of a Jackie Robinson night where 50k plus are in attendance to cheer on a organization/owner worthy of the Dodger name and the city of Los Angeles.
Later all.
PS
This ump blows.
WE SUCK
Double play!
just tuning in now. Is this as bad as it looks?
@DB: Firestone DBA.
Sorry, I was asleep.
We are catching the Cards at their absolute best in terms of hitting. They've been ringing up double dgit hits for a week now and are scoring runs like a softball team. This won't last for them because there are too many scrubs on that team (I am looking at you, Theriot). I just hope it doesn't bury our confidence
Nice optimism, FB!
Matt Kemp, torrid hitter.
I love Matty. I hope he doesn't just give up with everyone else sucking
James Loney, bad at baseball.
Thank, Mr. F! It's my new way of being.
Loney hit that fairly well
Yeah, that is true.
I'm with Fred. When do we play a shitty slumping team?
I mean, other than us.
Heading out on vacation tomorrow, going to Florida. If you have MLB.tv, check for me Wednesday night sitting 8 rows back of the plate at the Marlins-Pirates game. I'll be the one with the Dodger hat.
even Vin has given up
Ugh, Holliday.
We'll always have the balls to the nuts incident.
Dodgers pitchers don't seem to be getting that outside corner.
@FB: Why would I need MLB.TV? I'm sure Marlins/Pirates will be broadcast nationally.
Clayton's gonna win tomorrow. The Cards are swinging too well and are overconfident. Hitting against our scrubby bullpen guys, they don't need their good plate discipline and will think they just need to just wait for a meatball. Clayton won't give them any meatballs
good point, Josh - I will bring a Joe Buck Sucks sign
why am I hoping he hits a homer here?
if there are no crowds now, what's gonna happen when we are 12 back of the Rockies in June?
why would you take hitting advice from Steve Balboni?
Why are you calling down to the bullpen, Honeycutt. Let Cormier swing out there.
=(
When'll be the next time we score double-digit runs?
@Josh - A lead to protect? Let's not get crazy now.
@FB, in a single game or cumulative for a series?
I can't think of a game this season that's been fun to watch. (Maybe the 6-1 win in Frisco.)
@Josh
I would have guessed that you were having that beer!
Ps - (cries)
@Josh - it seems Mattingly has his protect-a-lead guys (Guerier, Kuo, Broxton) and his mop up guys (Jansen, MacDougal, Cormier). Hawksworth seems to be in the middle.
I don't like having Jansen wasting away on meaningless innings but I could care less if he sent out Cormier and MacDougal every game
Imprison Don Mattingly!
GODDAMMIT!
@Nic - haha let's start with the series and work from there
sorry, DB
Work on taking good at bats, Juanny. Get the good feeling again
how did that feel, Juanny?
No, I meant GODDAMMIT! about just really sucking as a team, FB.
This team is going to make Vin retire
PGT up.
This is the worst Dodger team in recent memory.
I really am hating McCourt more then usual.
(cries dramatically)
