Game 118 Thread: August 13 vs. Astros, 7.10p

Dodgers start Chad Billingsley, RHP (7-3, 3.34) vs. Roy Oswalt, RHP (12-6, 3.42).

Dodgers: 60-57 (4th place NL West, 6.0 GB, L2)
Astros: 52-65 (4th place NL Central, 9.5 GB, W1)

From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:

Dodgers: Billingsley's ERA went down, but he was tagged for his third consecutive defeat after winning his first seven decisions. Billingsley had one of his strange starts. He needed 98 pitches to get through five innings, allowing six hits and four walks, but only one run. He was able to keep the ball in a park -- Great American Ball Park -- known for home runs.

Astros: Oswalt was magnificent for a fourth consecutive outing in his start on Wednesday against the Cubs, pitching six shutout innings with four strikeouts. He got into early trouble with walks but got out of jams with strikeouts when he had to. In his last five appearances, he's given up two earned runs in 25 1/3 innings, and his ERA has dropped from 3.91 to 3.42 in that span.

COMMENTS:

  • Just what a struggling offense needs—Roy Oswalt.

Yes, you may blame Ned.

Another close-but-no-cigar out by Martin. Business as usual for the Dodgers.

Dodgers get a gift call from the umps. This means they'll leave two on in the first, not one.

Kent hits into a DP. 5-for-83 with RISP.

Orel said...

That was so predictable it's scary.

At least Bills is dealing.

Orel said...

...kind of. Bases loaded on a double and two walks.

Orel said...

Bills in another heap of trouble in the 3rd. Two on, no out.

Nomar ejected. Gives him something to talk about during the next Carne Asada Sunday.

Hey, Sons: can I come back from exile yet? This sucks.

Grady is worthy of at least some blame.
