Dodgers start Chad Billingsley, RHP (8-4, 3.48) vs. Jason Bergmann, RHP (2-5, 4.56).
Dodgers: 68-63 (3rd place NL West, 5.5 GB; 3rd place WC, 3.5 GB; W2)
Nationals: 58-74 (4th place NL East, 16.0 GB, L4)
Current postseason odds for the Dodgers, from Baseball Prospectus: 24.3%
From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:
Dodgers: Billingsley snapped a month-long four-game losing streak in Philadelphia. He scattered four hits over seven innings and was charged with only one run, striking out seven. He said he had better command than in recent games, and he was economical with his pitch count (93). Billingsley won his only start against Washington in his career, allowing one run in six innings.Nationals: With John Lannan shutdown as a starter, it means Bergmann will get the start. He has been on the disabled list for almost a month because of tightness in his left hamstring. In Bergmann's last rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Columbus, he tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up six hits against Louisville. He struck out nine batters in the game.
From Inside the Dodgers:
Furcal, SS
Pierre, CF (15-game hitting streak, one shy of his career best)
Ethier, RF (.444 avg, .545 OBP over last seven games)
Kent, 2B
Gonzo, LF
Martin, C
Loney, 1B
Hillenbrand, 3B
Billingsley, P

It's too bad we couldn't see John Lannon as the Nats' starter--Imagine what that would have been like. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I thought Pierre was supposed to be quick enough to track down that ball before it rolled to the wall.
Funny how his "signature quickness" doesn't help pierre's D.
Vin says that Nook Logan's real name is Xavier. Who Nook?
KFWB is doing an in-depth piece tomorrow on how this is "the driest season on record.". Are they referring to the Dodgers' offense?
Bills gets Nook to K for the second time!
We better score here...
Bases loaded - now we REALLY better score here...
YEAH!!! 2-1 dodgers
Kent smokes one - dodgers up 3-1
Wow did you see Logan Run?
FSN's center-field camera is bouncing up and down so much, I'm getting seasick.
Amazing that Bills has calmed down--87 pitches through six--after a tough first inning. 3-2 Dodgers, top 7.
Shea with a sweet grab of Schneider's rope. One out.
Hey AC--i saw Logan Run. Renewal! Renewal!
Well that's what I get for making bad sci-fi jokes. PH HR for Batista, tie game. Great.
Pierre almost missed that Lopez fly ball... Tie game going into the Nancy Bea Stretch.
Sweeney with a PH double! Is that his first hit with the Dodgers?
Great job Sweeney! Now there is ONE OUT, careful on the basepads!
Wow that was lucky hit by pierre - that had DP written all over it.
Hey Grady has a bat - he wants to pinch hit!
Martin hits a leadoff double in the eighth and Loney moves him over but they can't score him. Will that come back to haunt the Dodgers?
Saito has a 2-2 count on Pena...K for the final out! Dodgers win!
Saito is so fricken' clutch! Dodgers win! Go Blue!
Only 30 games left in the season...gotta keep winning these games, Blue!
The idiot postgame interviewer doesn't ask Jeff Kent ONE question about a) Kent passing Joe Dimaggio in HRs, or b) getting beaned Sunday by Maine. DO YOUR RESEARCH, FSN REPORTER!!!
Makes me wish for Carolyn Hughes...
Sweeney is 3-for-10 with the Dodgers, BTW. Guess I missed the other two hits.
Good night, everybody!
