Dodgers start Chad Billingsley, RHP (7-1, 3.65) vs. Doug Davis, LHP (7-10, 4.11).
Dodgers: 58-50 (2nd place NL West, 1.0 GB, L1)
D'backs: 60-50 (1st place NL West, 1.0 GA, L1)
From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:
Dodgers: He didn't even get halfway toward duplicating the complete game of his previous start, as Billingsley was knocked out after 4 1/3 innings by the Rockies. The righty didn't get away with poorly located pitches, as Yorvit Torrealba and Matt Holliday took him deep. He walked three and one of them scored, as his win streak was snapped at seven games. He's allowed 10 home runs in 79 innings, and he's 3-0 lifetime against the Diamondbacks.D'backs: Davis pitched seven strong innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out six and walking three in a no-decision against Atlanta in his last start. The Braves did all of their damage in a three-run fourth, but they made Davis work throughout the game, leading him to throw a season-high 122 pitches. The lefty has bounced back from a rough June in which he compiled a 6.34 ERA by going 2-1 with a 3.58 ERA in July, with six of his past seven outings being quality starts. Davis is 2-1 in his career against the Dodgers, although he hasn't allowed an earned run against them in 22 innings.
COMMENTS:
This Son will be at the Stadium tonight, Field level, 3rd base side. If you're there, and want to stop by and say hi, make a comment on this post. At the very least we can share a beer and lament how the Dodgers, losers of their last four consecutive series, don't merit the the second-place NL West position that they have. If I don't see a good performance from Billingsley tonight, I may be hanging Chad myself.

On our way to the game. Who's with me?!
Not I!
Sax is IN THE HOUSE and the anthem is playing!
Olmedo Saenz, Ramon Martinez, and Delwyn Young are in the starting lineup...okay...
Ps, I misspoke, I'm in aisle 21 field. Come visit. First beer is on me.
why do we still have Saenz
Why isn't ethier playing
He's too young.
Hey! Where's Loney?
Slappy gets on, one out.
JPSQ!
Wow, that was a good call at second.
Saenz will K anyway
Nice pick by Dozens O' Meals.
Slappy's uniform is a mess, but he didn't score. Nomar flies out to right, one out in the 2nd.
Hey, anyone om gameday; what's chad's pitchcount through three?
41 pitches 26 strikes
52 pitches 35 for strikes through 4
So I guess Chad just needs 10 days between starts.
Does Eric Byrnes throw his bat every time he gets out?
63 pitches 42 for strike through 5
Bills looks good tonight. It's too bad we have this shit lineup tonight
63 pitches through five, not bad Chad.
Dodgers offense still sleeping.
Delwyn likes to swing at the high heat.
Shit lineup? It's not like we're playing for first place or anything.
Chadley is dealing!
Go Chad! 6 K's!
81 pitches 52 strikes with 7 k's through 6
Great. Martin's hurt.
Stan Conte: "He's fine. I'm as sure about it as I was about Jason Schmidt."
Martin juked him!
Great, now Martin is gimpy.
can anyone tell me what martin was doign there?
Why is Martin still in there?
Lots of first pitch strikes by bills
94 pitches through 7
Martin beat out the throw to first but came up limping. Grady and Conte came out but left him in. Davis then picked him off first but Martin avoided the tag diving back into first. Then Davis picked him off again and he was hung out to dry.
Ethier will come in and hit a HR
Damn. One slip and you're toast, with our offense.
Dodgers batters #3-6: 1-for 12.
Excellent rundown!
Nicely pitched, Chad. You deserve better.
Eric Byrnes is like a monkey.
Doug Davis is killing us.
weak weak weak
It wasn't Chad's fault tonight. The Dodgers gave him such little support, you'd think Derek Lowe was on the mound.
