Dodgers start Mark Hendrickson, LHP (4-5, 4.55) vs. Bronson Arroyo, RHP (4-12, 4.72).
Dodgers: 58-53 (3rd place NL West, 4.0 GB, L4)
Reds: 47-64 (5th place NL Central, 12.0 GB, W2)
From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:
Dodgers: With the Barry Bonds circus in town, Hendrickson kept the best player of his generation in the park and off the bases and kept his team in the game with a quality start, allowing three runs over six innings. He allowed six hits, three of them Omar Vizquel doubles, without a walk and lasted 6 2/3 innings, his longest start in 2 1/2 months.Reds: Arroyo lasted a season-low 1 2/3 innings and gave up seven earned runs on seven hits in a 7-2 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday night at RFK Stadium. The right-hander lacked command of his fastball and was hit hard by Washington. He said he felt good coming into the game but pitching coach Dick Pole noticed his starter wasn't sharp during pregame warmups in the bullpen.
COMMENTS:
Hmm, Mark Hendrickson on the mound, no offense to be seen or heard, and the team moves from a four-game losing streak at home to the humid environs of Cincinnati. Have I told you about Wii Sports baseball?

Does Juan Pierre have a Mii?
Martin strikes out, but Dodgers seem to be taking more pitches.
Kent singles. Hopefully he hasn't cooled off.
Dodgers leave two on. I'M SHOCKED
Hey look, Arroyo got both Russell Martin and Luis Gonzalez to strike out swinging. Dodgers leave two on.
CHANGE UP THE LINEUP GRADY! THIS LINEUP SUCKS
Hey, the Dodgers are already losing 1-0, and they've only gotten two out!
3-0 Cincy, still 1st inning.
Yay, two more reds score on a single. how that could have happened, I don't know. 3-0 Reds. and we're still not out of the first inning.
the suckage continues
Lurch settling down? Still 3-0 CIN.
Lurch doubles! Odds that he'll be left on?
Maybe we should just have lurch bat.
First hit of the year! 1 for 23!
Lurch and Raffy both swing at the first pitch. Raffy gets on due to an error. Men at the corners with no out. Bill Mueller is found bound and gagged in the locker room, and the batters are swinging away like mad.
Martin...Martin....
Alyssa Milano must be stopped!
Martin GIDP. Unbelievable.
This lineup must be stopped.
Martin picks off the man at first.
Pierre actually got a single to move Raffy over. Monday says he's the hardest guy in the NL to strikeout. What about flyouts?
Dodgers now 1-for-31 with RISP.
According to Monday, Martin, who struck out looking with two on and none out in the sixth, has been playing with a bad ankle. Martin said "unless there's bone showing, I'm playing."
Insert Alyssa Milano joke here.
Nomar led off the seventh, swung at the first pitch, and made an out. Well, we're efficient.
Dodgers have men at the corners with two out and Furcal up. Any wagers?
weak weak weak weak weak weak weak weak weak weak
Yep, we leave another two on in the seventh.
We SUCK. Counting the seven tonight, and the nine Sunday, we have at least 16 straight scoreless innings.
Dodgers now 1-for-33 with RISP.
Are we still sucking?
Kent hits into the DP. We suck.
To be fair, I'm not doing well with RISP, either.
But I've got fewer scoreless innings.
Kent GIDP with two on and none out. Pierre is on third. How do you think this story ends?
Dodgers scoreless through eight. Seriously, this is about as pathetic as I have ever seen the Dodgers.
Good thing the 360 gets $50 cheaper tomorrow.
WE SUCK
