Congratulations to the 2014 Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, who outlasted the Rangers through two intense overtimes — the longest game in Kings history — to win their second Cup in three years. Players on both teams were exhausted, while the goalies for both teams were nearly perfect. Alec Martinez scored the game-winner off a Tyler Toffoli shot that rebounded off Henrik Lundqvist.
The 2012 Kings roared through the playoffs; the 2014 Kings muscled their way through, tonight's 26th playoff game for the Kings tying the NHL record for longest playoff run. After those three Game 7 wins and all those overtimes, this burgeoning Kings dynasty should go down as one of the toughest championship teams in L.A. sports history.
Congratulations also to the Dodgers, who did a little muscling of their own. Matt Kemp's second-inning two-run home run put the Dodgers ahead for good, Dee Gordon put on a defensive show, and Clayton Kershaw struck out seven over seven innings.
The bullpen wobbled, with Wilson and Jansen each allowing runs and Jansen needing 24 pitches to close it out, but we'll take it. The Giants were kind enough to allow five runs in the ninth to lose at home to the Rockies, so the Dodgers gain a full game and are now 7.5 games back. It was a good day in L.A. sports!

Awesome. Just awesome. How do you improve on the Kings winning the Cup? Have Vin Scully wax poetic about it as only he can. I'm drunk and on cloud nine. Go Blue! And go Kings GO!
