Don Zimmer, RIP

Don Zimmer passed away Wednesday June 4, 2014. He was 83.

Besides being an iconic MLB coach, Zimmer spent seven seasons with the Dodgers, breaking in with Brooklyn in 1954, migrating to Los Angeles with the team through 1959, and then returning to the team in 1963. As a utility infielder he played in 459 games with the Dodgers, with a Dodger career batting average of .228 (OPS+ 69). This trails his career batting average of .235 (OPS+ 770: he made the All-Start team in 1961 with the Cubs.

My Dodgers pennants are at half mast today in respect for Zim.
