Dan Haren (1-0, 0.00) vs. Max Scherzer (0-0, 0.00)
It's April 8th, so it must be Interleague Play!!! (Yeah, still not used to that.)
With our own reigning Cy Young winner on the shelf, it's up to Dan Haren to take on AL CY winner Max Scherzer (of nightmare-fueling bobblehead fame). It's not as lopsided a match as one might think. Neither has allowed an earned run this season. Haren has a win and Scherzer doesn't. Suck on THAT, Max! SMALL SAMPLE SIZES AND ANTIQUATED PITCHER STATS RULE!!!!
Can the Dodgers lineup follow up Sunday's home run derby with something reasonably resembling offense against Scherzer? I'm guessing yes, but I'm also thinking Matt Kemp will be back on the bench for some inexplicable reason. UPDATE: Nope! Kemp is IN the lineup, along with the newly called-up Tim Federowicz. Puig is still nursing his thumb boo-boo and remains day-to-day....wait for it...Aren't we all?
And what of AL MVP Miguel Cabrera? (Jeez, don't they have enough awards?) Here's hoping Haren can hold that Tiger.
