Post-Game 13 Thread: Dee Drives Sweep of Snakes

DODGERS 8, DIAMONDBACKS 6

The Dodgers got the win but a disturbing pattern is developing: Big bats give us the early lead, then hold on tight because here comes the bullpen.

Today the Dodgers got home runs from Kemp, AGon (homering in his fourth straight game) and Uribe as well as four (!) stolen bases by Dee Gordon, who also turned in a nice defensive play in the ninth inning. Haren slogged through and kept the Dodgers ahead, allowing three ER over 5 2/3 innings.

But the bullpen did its thing. Yesterday it was League causing heartburn; today Jamey Wright gave up a three-run bomb to Trumbo to turn a comfortable lead into something of a squeaker. But Paco, J.P., Perez and Kenley all did their jobs, and the lead (whew) held up.

Another off-day tomorrow. Let's hope the bats don't cool off.

Better hope our bullpen gets some fortitude before our next series with the Giants.

I am hopeful but not optimistic that Brian Wilson will return and will level out the bullpen. But 80% of me thinks he'll come back for a week or two and will eventually be shut down for good with real elbow problems. Issues like that just don't go away by "building arm strength." Billingsly can tell you that. I hope the other 20% is right

As long as Wilson doesn't cut his hair, he will be fine

Dee leads the majors with 9 SB

Some definite bullpen management (and politics) issues too:

Chris Perez has been effective, but not used much.
Jamey Wright has been ineffective and used a lot.

Paco should be trusted to face righties, but rarely gets to.

Withrow has been solid, but is likely to be the one sent down for Wilson because of his options. It's almost a lateral move, unless the team shocks us by DFAing League tomorrow.

I had a wonderful morning that I want to share with you all...Someone who lives a block from my mom is a gnat fan. He/she drives a nice truck and has a freaking SF logo in the back window. It takes every wit of my self control every time I go by it not to inflict some kind of damage. This morning when I went by it, someone had smashed all the windows out. I'm just so damn happy I can't stand it. Hope you all have a great gnat hating experience today too!!

I wonder with Perez and Wright it's a work thing, where Donnie wants to use Perez less because he was overused early in Cleveland and Wright needs more work because he used to be a starter who needs more innings to get into his groove.
Perez was really bringing it yesterday. I would love to see him used more

@karen: crazy as this may sound, I feel bad for the guy with the smashed windows. Even for a giant fan, that's wrong.

Don't go soft on us now, Sax.

@Karen - Nice work! Hope you didn't leave any evidence.

Can I just re-create how pissed off I am that Jackie Robinson Day is not being held during a home Dodger game this season? It's one of my favorite days of the year, and we don't get shit.
