SoSG Streaking Proposition Post: First Round

Here we go, guys. As I write this, I have no idea if Hiroki Kuroda will be starting (as announced) or off to another team...so let me go with this one for today's proposition:

Number of Rockies batters the Dodgers will face tonight (sum, across all Dodger pitchers): 36.5 (as recorded by the box score, "batters faced")

Cast your votes here. I won't be able to monitor it real-time, but any votes made after 7:00 PM PT are invalid. Good luck!

I keep going back and rereading it, it's not a trick right?

underdog

Now watch Hiro throw a perfect game.

I guess if that perfect game lasts 13 innings I'm cool with it.

Its highly unlikely that the Dodgers win this game. Kuroda is on the mound (not that he is the cause) but it is likely that the odds weigh heavily in the Rockies favor. They are gonna have to score about 5 runs, which equates to about 10 hits/walks and at least 37 at bats. If we were in Colorado it might be different.

I guess that makes me stuck with the under.

Dreaming of Yankee Stadium in October ... OVER.

rooblin said...

Don't worry Dusto. It'll be 35 batters.

27 would be perfect, so if you add in the 1st inning homer, the trouble in the 4th when they pull HK after 3 walks, Hawkworths troubling 3 in the 7th, and the 3 extra heart attack hits in the nineth, that equals 37... But I still think we win... right?

11-10 Dodger win tonight.

20 after 5?

Steve Sax said...

please check my math, here's what I've got

Neebs over, FB nothing --> neebs advances

Jason over, Dusto under

rooblin under, Mr Customer over

Central Valley Fan over, Mr F nothing --> CVF advances

PPR under, Keven C over

Spank Over, Q7 nothing --> Spank advances

Dusty Baker under, Mr. LA SC nothing --> Dusty Baker advances

Josh S both --> Josh S advances

Kyle Baker said...

Which hand are you using for that, Josh S?

Steve Sax said...

If I'm reading this right, the over wins, right?

Kyle Baker said...

Well, I'm showing 36, and the o/u was 36.5.

spank said...

The over wins. The math seems correct.

Kyle Baker said...

(scratches head) Isn't 36 under 36.5?

(scratches balls)

Keven you are hot, you have to win it all so when my kids ask me why I lost. I can tell them I lost to the best player, he was destined to win it all, sons.

Steve Sax said...

my math says Kuroda faced 27, Hawksworth 6, MacDougal 6, Elbert 1, for a total of 40. So OVER should win...

I have (top to bottom), the winners as:

Neeebs
Jason
Mr. Customer
Central Valley Fan
Keven C
Spank (since Q7 didn't post)
Mr. LA SC
Josh S (since he had no opponent)

Let me know if there are errors, please, I'm posting results in a new grid on Friday.

I didn't comment, so Dusty should advance.

Though Dusty should be automatically eliminated for "route," but that's just my opinion.

@Sax

Yeah my GameDay hadn't refreshed. See it clearly now.

Fred's Brim said...

not that it matters, but was I supposed to specifically say "under" in my post? I thought you got the other side of the proposition as long as you showed your face in the thread before the cutoff time

QuadSevens said...

Completely forgot to check on this yesterday. Looks like Spank was quick on the draw and picked the right side anyways. Good job Spank.

FB commented in time.

He shouldn't have to face the scorn of being a slacker.

Steve Sax said...

you're right, FB did comment. My bad--neebs still advances however...

FB's reputation remains pristine in this crowd. Well, maybe I'm pushing the envelope here.
