Chad Billingsley (8-8, 4.07) vs. Jason Marquis (8-4, 3.92).
Last night, the Dodgers depended on a .169 hitter to win the game. Today in the rubber match, can we expect heroics from another unlikely source? And given how that characterization would capture basically everyone in the lineup (including both Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier, both of whom are struggling), who if anyone will heed the call and step up?
Oh yeah, I will be at the game today, baking on the field level like a potato. Holler if you want to say hi.

Per TBLA (hat tip!):
"Minor League Player of the Day – Dee Gordon - 4 for 5, 1 2B, 2 RBI's, 3 Runs, 1 SB. Gordon has been outstanding since returning to AAA about a month ago, hitting .412 in 4 games in June and .388 so far in July. It was his 3rd straight multi-hit game, and also his 3rd straight game with an extra base hit."
FREE DEE GORDON!
Gwynn 7
Furcal 6
Ethier 9
Kemp 8
Miles 5
Loney 3
Navarro 2
Carroll 4
Billingsley 1
Anyone else watching the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies?
Just saw cool thing. When Juan Marichal was introduced, the camera caught a Dodger-capped fan cheering for him. Class act!
Especially in contrast with me; I had just yelled "Throw at him, Sandy!"
Come to think of it, we should have had a HoF ceremony thread.

I was watching footage from yesterday's activities where the 2011 Ford C. Fricke Award was given to Dave Van Horne. Great speech, talking about listening to baseball on the radio and how so many of the calls we collectively remember were heard on the radio, producing memorable phrases that stay with us to this day. he mentioned [unmentionable play involving Bobby Tompson] but highlighted Jack Buck's call of Gibby's famous home run. He then turned to Dennis Eckersley and said, "Sorry, Eck." Brilliant stuff!
Bud Selig getting some boos. Maybe they were just saying boooo-urns, but I doubt it.
RIP to Hall of Famers who died in the past year:
Sparky Anderson
Bob Feller
Harmon Killebrew
Duke Snider
Dick Williams
Terry Cashman made a cool speech, too, before performing his "Talkin' Baseball" classic. got a little weepy when he mentioned the Duke. He changed the lyrics up at the very end and said "...the Duke of Flatbush..."
MLB Network production value is Loney. They keep cutting away from the ceremony to showcase Harold Reynolds' yammering. Let the freaking ceremony be the thing, idiots.
Colt 45s reference from Pat Gillick!
Lots of Blue Jays fans in attendance. Represent, folks!
Roberto Alomar now being inducted. I was glad to live on the East Coast during a time when Alomar was still playing, so got to enjoy watching him (mainly against Os).
Alomar doing part of speech en Espanol. Nice touch.
Alomar surprisingly humble. HofF induction has a way of doing that to people, I guess.
Touching from Alomar: Tony Gwynn Sr gave him his first pair of baseball shoes when he was 19, so he turned to thank TG, who of course is sitting there as a HoFer himself. Great stuff!
Alomar just thanked his mom for taking him to the baseball parks when he was a little kid. Now I'm getting a little weepy.
Bert "Be Home" Blylevyn up next, but I have to head out. Clearly all the other interested readers are going tp suffer now.

Heading to the Stadium.
Check your email Dusty
One of you two needs to prove that MLASC is an actual person and not a computer simulation.
RT @Dodgers:
"Blyleven says he learned the curveball by listening to Vin Scully describe Sandy's hook and visualizing the grip & spin"

I could hear the bones creaking from here
It could be worst, we could of spent some serious off season money and suck like the nats.
Gotta love that hustle by Kemp. He could just mail it in but he ain't going down like that.
Rancho Shitiendo!
Rancho Ardiendo for who? Pinche Loney!
Is Loney actively trying to get fired?
@sax
Yes just got shade. Seats next to us are open.
@Spank
Totally agree. Kemp is plating like it's Game 7 World Series.
RA ACKBAR
It was a trap.
Perfect, listening to vinny while taking a shower. My phone suddenly turned off, clicked it and Steiner is on, that iPhone is pretty smart.

Just made sweet, sweet love to SoSG Sax.

In Javy We Trust!
Seriously? Two hours +3 minutes and no new comment?
Damn, folks, hang in there. I get all negative and cynical and shit, but hey, we will be judged by our loyalty in the end, on judgment day, when Pee Wee checks the list of people as they arrive at the Blue Gates.
Wait, the thread image is missing a few levels on the left. Where is Loney, Furcal and Barajas?
@Sax
Thx for the dry hump. Too bad we couldn't have had a 3-way with MLASC.
Man, Amy Winehouse had some big titties. I'm just stating a fact.
Awesome to see you and the Baker clan too, Dusty!
Sorry for the delay; PGT up
