Clayton Kershaw (4-5, 4.28) vs. Shawn Estes (2-3, 4.73).
COMMENTS: Five regular-season games left! Estes knows the Dodgers, having pitched for every other NL West team over his career. However, that doesn't mean Estes knows how to beat the Dodgers, as he's 6-9 with a 5.27 ERA lifetime against them.
Last time the Dodgers faced Estes, they beat him by scoring five earned runs in five innings. They'll need some more of that bat magic tonight, especially since Kershaw figures to be on a short leash and the bullpen, already used in yesterday's game, will probably work tonight too.
As for the Diamondbacks, seeing them lose early yesterday was inspiring, but the only way for the Dodgers to make the post-season (and prepare to play actual winning teams) is to win win win themselves. The magic number is three. Pray we alter it even further.

Funny how, even though he never pitched for the Dodgers, these are the pitchers Shawn Estes is most similar to by age:
24. Noah Lowry (975)
25. Noah Lowry (979)
26. Odalis Perez (968)
27. Monte Pearson (957)
28. Randy Wolf (957)
29. Jason Schmidt (972)
30. Randy Wolf (950)
31. Steve Avery (937)
32. Esteban Loaiza (938)
33. Wilson Alvarez (929)
Wow, that is a lot of ex Dodgers and NL West people in general.
Lando feels the Force.
There are a lot of "robust" pitchers on that list, too.
Has Estes been picking up some tips from our man Andruw?
Stl takes the lead in the bottom of the second, with rufus wainwright plating at least one run.
2-0 stl, men at the corners, one out, bottom 2
Hallelujah!
Cards 2, D'back 0, top 3!
Cards 2, D'backs 2, top 3....
Lando: that was never a condition of our agreement, nor was giving Han to this bounty hunter
Darth Vader: perhaps you think you're being treated unfairly?
Dodgers baseball+Star Wars references=my unconditional loyalty to this site.
loved it, loved it, loved it. Thanks, Orel!
Cards 3, D'backs 2, bot 5!
Cards 4, D'backs 2, bot 5!
Happy to oblige, Karina!
Kemp, CF
Martin, C
Ramirez, LF
Ethier, RF
Garciaparra, 1B
Blake, 3B
DeWitt, 2B
Berroa, SS
Kershaw, LHP
I think this is the first time in the season Loney doesn't start in consecutive nights.
Blake doubles. One out.
It's breaking my heart.
Blake at 3rd. 2 outs. Berroa at the plate.
Mine is breaking, too. Loney fan (there's a Los Prisioneros song i like a lot called "Corazones Rotos")
Believe it or not, Estes doubled off Kershaw.
I'll have to find that song and start listening
I am really going to have to put more effort into the Rosetta Stone Spanish language software that I bought. The lyrics were confusing and the video even more so. Probably better if I spoke the language though.
2 outs but Russell and Manny are still doing their best to make this happen!
Magic number=2
Nomar HR!
Blake walk!
DeWitt walk!
No out!
Why swing at the first pitch, Berroa?
Nice hard slide by DeWitt prevents the DP. 1st & 3rd w/1 out.
The Mets choked again tonight.
Kemp RBI! 2-2 tie!
I can't believe Nomar's recent power surge. I was sure he was done after getting hurt a few weeks ago.
Bye bye, Estes! Rancho Ardiendo for Manny!
God I wish I was watching the game on TV right now!
Well, you didn't miss much there—Manny grounded out.
Sweet grab by Casey Blake!
Is this what they call Veteran presence? Nomar is clutch lately!
SQUEEZE! Nice job, Angel!
3-2 Dodgers. Kershaw out.
Er, make that 4-3.
Let's get some runs and bury these guys.
"These aren't the droids you are looking for."
"Move along."
MANNY! 6-3 DODGERS!
Manny!!!!!!!!!!
Hit z big one.
My DirecTV must have a delay or something. Manny hits the home run, I head over here, and Orel has already posted about it, with a timestamp one minute before the home run actually happened on my television. Strange.
Orel sees the future.
One is the loneliest number.
RA w/1 out for Giles....
Strange, Erin. I'm on DirecTV too.
Maybe I just type faster than you.
(Just kidding.)
Jeff Kent sighting! His AB music is Van Halen's "Change"!
Hey guys, Sax here. You are not going to believe this, but I'm sitting one section over from Orel's next door neighbor. Small world!
Kent coming up now. Go Blue!
Sax, what are you doing in my neighbor's house?
Let's close this out.
Ethier with an RBI single.
Gives him .300/20HR/75RBIs
Not bad for one half the season as a part-timer.
9-4 Dodgers! Magic number one, here we come!
Orel, I think you'd better check on your neighbor.
RAFFY!
