Greg Maddux (7-13, 4.31) vs. Jake Peavy (9-11, 2.77).
COMMENTS: Your 2008 NL West Division Champions take the field tonight, having clinched the division without even lifting a bat. Of course, pounding the Padres 12-4 last night does help the cause a bit, but tonight look for a lineup full of benchwarmers and recently reactivated veterans. As for Maddux, still with only one win since coming to the Dodgers and still teetering on the precipice of owning eighth place on the all-time career wins list outright (banishing 'Roid Rage Roger to ninth place), the Dodgers second-string lineup plus a pitching matchup against Peavy does not seem to indicate an happy ending. Win or lose, however, the Dodgers should be celebrating tonight--and all you fans lucky enough to be there in person (like SoSG Alex Cora) had better enjoy every minute of it! Congratulations, Dodgers!

According to Inside the Dodgers:
Furcal, SS
Kent, 2B
Manny, LF
Ethier, RF
Loney, 1B
Blake, 3B
Kemp, CF
Ardoin, C
Stults, P
I'll probably lose my voice during Furcal's first at-bat.

OK, so I just bought a 2008 Division Champion T-Shirt at MLB.com.
FYI, the bobbleheads in stock are probably not quite flying off the shelves. You have a choice of Andruw, Kent, Loney, and Schmidt.
Erin, would you please shout for me too?
I'm euphoric! someone called me to tell me about my 2008 NL West Champions while stuck in traffic!
I admire your remote enthusiasm, Karina.
Jim Abbott throws out a pitch and the PA announcer says, "Let's have a hand for Jim Abbott."
Oops.
Okay, no more posts from me until after the game. Gotta concentrate on the celebration.
erin! AC! you guys are both at tonight's game! Have a ($10) beer for me!
Rob, true love doesn't know about distance.
By the way, the 2008 NL West Champions are down by two. Padres scored two runs on the top of the first, Luis Rodriguez singled, Brian Giles homered.
holy smokes, usc is down 21-0
Top of the 4th. Ozuna replaces Kent and Hu substitutes Furcal. How did Kent and Raffy look?
sc scores a touchdown early to open the third. 21-6 Oregon State, pending the extra point.
Raffy looked fine, karina, though to my eyes his back seems a little tight. I wasn't watching the game completely though (we were having dinner), so I might have missed something.
He flied out weakly to center for his last at bat.
Didn't see Kent's ABs.
Milwaukee is coming up in the bottom of the tenth, tied at 1
repko just replaced Manny, to much cheering. Torre did it right, by having Manny take his spot in left, and then having Repko run out and replace him. Well done.
Bottom of the 10th in Milwaukee, two on, one out, Counsell up
sorry, there are two outs in the bottom of the 10th in milwaukee. Counsell walks on four pitches, so here comes Ryan Braun for all the marbles, with rancho ardiendo
21-7, SC driving at midfield with 5:30 to go in the third
BRAUN HITS A GRAND SALAMI, Brewers win to keep pace in the wildcard chase!
Can't wait for the Braun highlight...wow. ESPN Gamecast had it deep to left.
Remember, if the Brewers win the wild card...we have to play the Cubs.
Ugh.
Manny just threw a ball to some people a few seats to my right. A woman fell over (I'm right by the foul pole) and then decided to go for the ball as it rolled toward the bullpen. The security guard saw her, knew what she was going for, and still felt the need to full-on tackle the woman in a way that easily could have broken her neck. He then slammed her to the ground and had his two other buddies help hold her down and cuff her.
I've never witnessed something so unnecessarily violent, and I'm really shaken up by it. You can bet I'll be writing a post later, and Josh Rawitch in PR will be getting a copy.
The game is far less enjoyable at the moment.
Stults exits with two out and a man on second. "He did very well," said Vin.
I am so busy channel flipping and web window flipping, I confess I missed most of it...
erin, I can't wait to see your post. If you get a chance, please describe the size / stature of the guard and offender. I bet it was a bad mismatch.
This is LA, however...sometimes, people on power trips go nuts, sadly.
21-14 Oregon State over USC in the third.
I think the Dodger Stadium security has a couple of Paul LoDuca's leftover packages. They must be juicing.
It may be 4-0 SD now, but the cut scene before the commercial showed the LA Dodgers' locker room being taped down in plastic, pending the champagne festivities...
Bottom 5, Dodgers down 4-0
Oregon State is putting up a fight, driving to their own 40...
Hu gets the Dodgers on the board, 4-1, scoring DeWitt from third. Kemp wisely takes third, so it's men at the corners with two out in the fifth.
Loney pops out, but nine men come to the plate in the 5th and Peavy, with 50+ pitches this inning alone, must be gassed.
USC just had to punt, down by a touchdown with 8:00 in the fourth quarter.
4-3 Dodgers against Peavy. Four innings to play. All the regulars out. Not too bad.
Sorry, there are 9+ minutes left in the fourth at Oregon State. USC down 14-21.
erin, you haven't been hauled away as well, have you?
okay, gotta go. be good.
Would be nice to win this one. There are a whole lot of people here. Also there are a million beach balls flying around too.
Hi everybody! Anything interesting happen today?
I sent you guys an email with the story when I thought it wasn't posting here. Sorry for the duplicate.
Dodgers!!!!
Oh, and I got pictures of the incident, so you'll be able to see the mismatch.
Erin, we got the email, thanks for thinking of us. Post away, I'm desperately interested...
