Hiroki Kuroda (8-10, 3.93) vs. Ross Ohlendorf (1-2, 6.84).
COMMENTS: Kuroda has never pitched in Pittsburgh before. The Dodgers have never seen Ohlendorf before. Casey Blake's back is acting up. Andre Ethier, celebrating the birth of his child in Arizona, may not make it to Pittsburgh in time. The Pirates just swept the Cardinals. The Dodgers are trying to whittle down their magic number below 10. The Pirates have nothing for which to play. Rick Monday will inevitably be lamenting how late in the evening the Dodgers arrived from Colorado, probably making this point 84 times before the end of the evening. And Vin Scully won't be calling the game, which would save us all from at least a couple of innings of Monday. As you can tell, my expectations are low for the opening game of the four-game series with Pittsburgh--this has bad news written all over it (which, ironically enough, is a headline already being used by this D'backs fan!).

I have a pair of Ohlendorfs in my home theater system. They sound great.
I had a neighbor named O. Len Dorf. He went by the name Lenny.
Martin C
Pierre CF
Ramirez LF
Loney 1B
Garciaparra 3B
Kemp RF
DeWitt 2B
Berroa SS
Kuroda P
No score after 1.
Garciaparra leads off the 2nd with a double.
Kemp lined out, DeWitt walked.
Wild pitch to Berroa. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.
Berroa walks. Bases loaded for Kuroda and his .125 average.
I have been away for a while, What is the news about Ethier? Why isn't he playing?
1-2-3 double play to end the inning. No score after one and a half.
I believe Ethier is on maternity leave.
Pirates go quietly in the second.
Hey Quad, your prize is in the mail - keep an eye out for it!
Sweet! I'll be looking forward to those stylish air fresheners!
MANNY - POWER TO THE WRISTBANDS!
With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Manny one-hops it off the wall and drives in 2.
Loney with a basehit to right. Runners on the corners with nobody out.
King James delivers, men at the corners!
Hello Quad and Alex! i´ll be quiet tonight...i´m counting on you for details!
By the way Quad, congrats on the awesome air fresheners!
DeWitt batting, King james steals 2nd, Manny scores due to throwing error by the catcher.
Dodgers 3, Pirates 0
Thanks Karina. I'll be at work a little late today, so I'll update you when I can.
Dodgers up 3-0 thanks to the errors by the Pirates (oh and manny's bat - why do you pitch to him?)
Loney comes through, but gets picked off at first.
Long single off the wall. Bases loaded for Loney who hits one past first base. 2 runs score on the play, but Loney gets caught on a wide turn off first.
The long single was for Manny.
Garciaparra grounds out to end the top of the 4th. Good guys up 5-0.
LaRoche caught stealing to end the bottom of the 4th.
Dodgers get runners on 1st and 2nd, but Berroa grounds into a double play. Kuroda lines out to right, Kemp stranded at 3rd.
5-0 going into the bottom of the 5th.
Dodgers get a double play to end the 5th. Top of the order to start the 6th for us.
PIERRE!!! FIRST HOMERUN IN 2 YEARS!!!
Look out Ethier we have a new power outfielder!
Pierre with a homerun?!? That is ridiculous!
Juan Pierre HR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stuff like this makes me daydream about World Series!
It´s not ridiculous, it´s Manny´s protection™.
Trademark is property of SoSG Orel.
manny should take some pointers from Pierre.
I just read the first 23 comments, and the comment which made me laugh aloud was karina's: "congrats on those awesome air fresheners!"
I don't know if the word "awesome" and the words "air fresheners" have ever been used together in the same sentence, before karina. Wow.
I can't believe Juan Pierre homered.
I'm still in shock.
Berroa with a sac fly to score Ozuna who ran for Garciaparra.
7-0 middle of the 7th.
Scratch that...it was DeWitt with the sac fly, not Berrora.
I can't believe Homer Pierred.
fanerman, I'm with you. I mean, who uses "awesome" and "air fresheners" together?
Kuroda is rolling. 83 pitches through 7. 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 HBP, 1 BB.
Looks like Kuroda's night is done. Delwin Young pinch hit for him in the 8th. Great outing for Kuroda.
Martin and Pierre with back to back singles. Two on for Sweeney pinch hitting for Manny who walks on 4 pitches. Bases loaded for Loney.
Pierre HRs and Sweeney walks in the same game. Something must be in the Allegheny.
Sac fly for Loney. Martin scores. 3 RBIs for Loney.
8-0 Doyers middle of the 8th.
This is bizarre night: Pierre homered, Sweeney pinch-hits for Manny and draws a walk...
Thanks, Steve. Maybe sleep deprivation is making me more creative, maybe it was a way to predict bizarre night since Nostradamus hasn't posted in days...
Saito in to pitch the 8th.
Saito gets through the 8th with just one walk.
How did Saito look?
Just listening on the radio, but Saito got through it without much of a problem. Penny is now in to pitch the 9th.
Penny is in to close it out.
@karina
Saito was lights-out.
Brad Penny is pitching now. (Viewers Digression Advised: This may get ugly!)
Interesting that ned yost got fired today. Poor guy.
SF AZ 0-0
Come guys close this out...
Penny is getting hit hard in the ninth...
There goes the shut out. Penny is just grooving those balls down the middle. Sheesh.
But at least we win - great job guys! Go Blue! I think player of the game should be Kuroda instead of Pierre. see you all tomorrow!
It's so good Saito looked lights out. Not so much about Penny...anyway, let's go blue!
Penny gives up a two-run bomb to the other LaRoche.
Let's make sure Brad takes some of whatever Pierre is taking.
No score in AZ in the third.
Boston is all over TB, 13-3 in progress. Uh oh.
AZ and SF, tied at 1 in the fifth.
Dunn 2-run homer. Arizona 3-Giants 1. Bottom of the 8th.
Arizona won. Still 4.5.
Well, it was a matter of time before Dunn stepped up to mash. At least we came out strong in game 1 in Pittsburgh to keep the pressure on! Good night, everybody!
