Clayton Kershaw (1-3, 4.02) vs. Kyle Lohse (13-3, 3.73).
COMMENTS: A day game following a night game may be tough on the players, but it can't come soon enough for the obsessive fan (i.e., me) tempted to read too much into a rotten start by Derek Lowe. Manny Ramirez's tenure as a Dodger is only five games old (record: 2-3), so the honeymoon phase of the relationship is still going strong. And why not? Dude already has three homers and seven RBIs for us.
A weekend in San Francisco awaits the Dodgers after they try to salvage the series finale against the Cardinals.
STAT OF THE DAY: Russell Martin, when batting in front of Ramirez: 5-for-22.

Woohoo!
Maybe, Q7, maybe. But I'm not holding my breath.
Thanks for asking, Karina. The vet thinks he tweaked one of his front legs. No more medication, but we are to massage his leg muscles at least twice a day. As if he weren't spoiled enough!
Master Quad, wise puzzle solver, owner of comment #200.
Awwwww, Orel. So it doesn't spund so bad, besides i guess you love to massage him!
Our cat is very expressive when we pet her. Closes her eyes, purrs, etc.
The dog, not so much. He loves getting his belly rubbed but just kind of stares at you when you do it.
It's definitely a long shot on the Ramirez signing. Boras has burned the Dodgers in the past, so he might do it again.
I just had to post something since this thread is already up to 208!
Loney Fan, who is that in your avatar picture?
I guess we'll find out if Manny really loves L.A.
And if Frank McCourt is as rich as he acts.
A dog and a cat?. You're a pet lover for sure.
Coper is very expressive...he even barks and groans when he feels like being pampered.
Just a pic I found
Boras+represented outfielders+Dodgers= bad results.
At least in the Ned Colletti era.
Nice find, LF.
Pet Coper for me, Karina!
The Dodgers will always have to deal with Boras, as they rely regularly on free-agent signings. Remember, a ton of salary (Kent, Lowe, Furcal) is coming off the books after this season.
Thanks, I felt I owed a good picture after subjecting everyone, especially EK, to a poorly cropped pic of Jones' head on a fake fat ballerina body.
I will! pet your pup and cat for me, Orel!
by the way, do they get along?
Furcal would be nice to keep around a few more years too. Kent and Lowe are free to leave though.
Furcal and his agent want to stay with the Dodgers. Do you really think Lowe will be gone?
That's right, LF. We don't tolerate poor Photoshopping around here. (That was sarcastic, by the way.)
Will do, Karina. The dog is ten, the cat is one. The dog tolerates the cat.
Well, Dodgers could use Ethier and/or Kemp as trade bait for a good starting pitcher, however, i don't want either of them to go.
Lowe will be gone. I know you like him, Karina, but he's 35 and will be looking for at least a three-year deal.
Furcal returning and playing well in September will go a long way to helping him re-sign with the Dodgers.
Why trade cheap youngsters for pitching when you can sign expensive free agent pitchers? It's the Dodger way.
I hope so. It's true, i wouldn't like Lowe to go, but it'd break my heart if Ethier and/or Kemp go.
Kemp's staying. Ethier might be traded, but I hope not too.
How about Pierre and Jones?. Colletti is going to be busy with outfield decisions, if he stays as GM.
That's a big if, Karina.
This offseason is going to be fun, depending if and how far Dodgers go into the playoffs.
That's another big if, Karina.
They will, because they added a spark.
Love the optimism, Karina!
I'm back and it seems my loyal friends have kept this thread going. Amazing.
Orel, do you think EK will be pissed if I add a couple more GTs to the "Chasing 400" sidebar? Is he focusing on that one GT for any particular reason (since there are two Game Threads with 322 comments, which I believe is our record).
I wouldn't think so, Sax. But it may be hard to keep track of all the threads.
Okay, well I'm going to put the one with the most comments down there.
EK, when you read this, I hope you aren't pissed. And if you are, it's Orel's fault.
Anyone buy a Manny jersey or shirt yet? I think I'm going to get one next week at the stadium.
Quad, you're playing right into Frank McCourt's hands...
The Dodgers sold $125,000 worth of Ramirez shirts and jerseys in Manny's first weekend as a Dodger. So go for it, Q7. You'll have plenty of company.
What I want to know is, Will Manny's Fannys be purchasing matching T-shirts?
I've got a jersey, few hats, and a 3/4 sleeve tshirt but not a regular short sleeve Dodgers tshirt. I've wanted one for a while now, might as well get one with #99 on it.
We'll see about the dreads.
You gotta go whole hog, Q7!
and take a picture of yourself in your best Manny attire...maybe make it as your avatar, just and idea.
edit: an
I was going to search for a good pic of myself in some Dodgers atire for my new avatar tonight. I have another idea that I might try out tonight too. We'll see though.
Orel, I'll have to see what the dreads cost. They definitely could be part of a fun costume for halloween.
Quad, you could try it on the thread for chasing 400, it's in the side bar, i tried mine first there.
I can't believe this thread died out when it was getting so close to "chasing 400"
I guess it would be sacrilege to go past the original chase.
There are no sacred cows.
If only the Dodger's front office would abide by that rule.
All they heard was "cow." Hence, Andruw Jones.
"Cow","Andruw Jones", all i hear is "diet" and "working out".
In fairness, Andruw returned from the DL noticeably slimmer.
I'll tell you what was noticably slimmer about Andruw Jones: HIS BATTING AVERAGE
Do you know what would make me happy? if Andruw Jones was hitting his weight, just sayin'
Actually Karina, I'm not even sure if Ted Williams could hit Jones' weight.
I had to check that info, on the Dodgers website is listed as .240.
5-0 Braves lead the D'backs!
6-0!
Uh-oh, 6-4....
It feels so weird, rooting for the Braves...but here I am. Ninth inning, keep the damn lead Atlanta!
orel, just tried to call you...pls call my cell if you get this before the end of the braves game
Clark strikes out to end the game! Arizona loses, so now the Dodgers are back to 1.5 games back as we enter this weekend's series in San Francisco.
Go Dodgers! (And this weekend, Go Braves!)
