Ubaldo Jimenez (8-11, 3.94) vs. Hiroki Kuroda (7-8, 3.88).
COMMENTS: Hopefully the momentum from the "walk off" home run by Andre Ethier on Monday will carry into tonight's game with the bats still being hot. With this race between the Dodgers (Derek Zoolander) and the D'Backs (Hansel), we might need a walk off of our own as we head toward the end of the season. But I think we now have the bats to pull it out and we will overcome our fear of "turning left" and round the bases a few more times. In fact some of Derek Zoolander's poses can be seen in some of the players: "Le Tigre" = Andre Ethier, "Ferrari" = Matt Kemp, "Magnum" = Manny Ramirez. And of course there is "Blue Steel" which I will let you all decide who that one exemplifies - maybe the whole team? Go Blue!

"You gotta tame the beast before you let it out of its cage."
I think if we're not careful, Kent will purposely stop hitting so well, just so he can make sure everyone knows his success has nothing to do with Manny batting next.
That'll show Vin.
Well, someone needs to put that guy in his place.
He has been acting uppity lately.
Please god, if I am forced to root for the Padres for the next three days, at least make it worth my while.
I suppose god hates me. Top of the first, Diamondbacks have a 2-0 lead.
Anyone think it's a bad idea to have Greg Maddux start Saturday in Philadelphia? He could pitch as soon as tomorrow, so even Thursday would be good. Instead, they're sending him to a hitter's ballpark against a tough, tough lineup. Scary.
Calm down, Erin. Remember Dodgers offense has improved a lot, so a couple of runs in the first inning is not much. We can start panicking around the 7th.
As i type this, Kemp with a leadoff double! Go, Bison!
I'm not worried about us coming back. I'd just like the Diamondbacks to lose.
Man. Ethier swung twice at ball four in that at-bat.
I was going to say the same thing, Erin (i'm watching the game on TV)
Time to prove your theory...
Ha! Scully doesn't care what Kent says. He mentions yet again that he's profiting from hitting in front of Ramirez.
And Kent doubled to drive in a run.
Beautifully, Kent wants to prove you're wrong.
Dodgers 1, Rockies 2. One out. Manny at the plate.
Manny hit the ball hard, but Taveras made a nice running catch. The good news is we're hitting the ball hard against Jimenez.
I was going to say the same thing, Erin.
Great minds think alike?
Indeed, Karina.
The Padres have cut the D-Backs to 4-2, but Brett Tomko is warming up for them in the 'pen. Not a good sign.
I don't have a very good feeling about Tomko.
Me neither, Karina. I don't know if he'll be coming in next inning, but the Padres' starter managed to get through the bottom of the third with the 4-2 score intact.
Bottom of the order not looking so great against Jimenez. Martin struck out swinging at a pitch way out of the zone, Nomar got a nice single, and then Blake got caught looking at a sick curveball. Let's hope we didn't lose our only opportunity when we couldn't tie it in the first.
And hey, then Kuroda gets a hit through the hole between first and second! Nice! Matt Kemp comes up with two on and two out.
And promptly grounds out weakly. Ugh.
And Hawpe (I think) crushes a ball to center to make it 4-1, Rockies.
Guess we got bad Kuroda tonight.
Oh, and Dunn hit a homer to make it 6-2, D-Backs, over the Padres.
Hey guys! what the heck? They seem to be hitting Kuroda hard.
Hey, AC!
Nomar and Casey get on, but Kuroda is at the plate with two outs. I understand the move, I guess, but it's still hard to see the pitcher up there in this situation.
Oh, lucky us! A wild pitch to make it 4-2. That makes it a little easier to deal with Kuroda up there.
Hello all. I see Middling Kuroda has showed up today.
But Jimenez gifts us with a WP run! Nomar's hustling tonight!
And Kuroda walks! Well, Jimenez can hand us some more runs if he wants.
That was a passed ball, not a wild pitch, for the record.
Come on, Kemp!
You know you gotta love the pitching coach for Colorado - Bob Apodaca. I love saying that name.
Kuroda draws a walk!
KEMP! KEMP! KEMP! 4-3 Rockies!
Nice little smile on Kemp's face at third.
Rough night for Ethier.
Thanks, Erin.
Very rough night, Orel.
I like the pitching coach's name, too. Reminds me of Bob Loblaw.
Ethier keepin' it real with the leather!
I think I just had a seizure after watching that x-mo replay of Either's catch.
Let's not forget Dick Pole.
AC, I just said the exact same thing to my girlfriend.
The miller light ad was flashing repeatedly in the background.
gf or fiancee?
Kuroda settling down now?
Okay, fiancee.
Way to settle down, Kuroda!
Looks like we gotta keep Erin honest, AC.
Kuroda pitched nicely after a rough first and third. He's at 97 through six. Let's get him the win in this inning, okay?
Blake doubles with two out. But Sweeney is up.
sigh
Man Sweeny sucks. Not like I had to tell everyone that though.
Kent with another hit! We need some runs guys!
Here we go, Manny!
I can't believe there are so many people willing to pay $29 for a Manny T-shirt.
Man Ram with a hit! 2 on 2 out.
How much are the dreads?
Hmmm, dubious strike to Loney.
I bet the dreads are at least $40.
Martin with a chance, but flies out on the first pitch.
Guy goes to 3-1 on two hitters in a row. One gets a hit, one walks. So what does Martin do? Swings at the first pitch. Awesome.
Dammit Martin! Bases loaded and nothing to show for it.
Back. A couple of friends decided to pay a surprise visit. It sucks they're losing.
Gotta run guys. I'm getting real sleepy. Hope we can pull this one out!
Karina, don't your friends know not to bother you when the Dodgers are playing?
Night, AC.
They know. They don't care. I even told them i got to watch the game tonight, so it's sacred. *Sigh*
Padres rally but lose, 7-6. Thanks for nothing. Oh, and for Maddux.
This game is over anyways. Kuo gives up the three-run bomb. 8-3 Rockies.
Did someone watch Torre's reaction? just looking at him, even if i didn't know the score, i'd say game is over...
How you really know it's garbage time: Tanyon Sturtze.
How do we sweep the Phillies and beat the Brewers but lose to the Rockies?
How did they get two walk offs loses against the Giants?
This team is impossible to figure out.
Dare I say...it is like a woman.
I was watching Sunday's Mad Men and keeping one eye on this game on Gameday. Not good at all.
I say it's a different game altogether if Martin isn't so impatient at the plate in the bottom of the seventh.
Kemp. don't hurt yourself!
Game over. Night.
That was forgettable. Night.
