Game 124 Thread: August 17 vs. Brewers, 1p

Clayton Kershaw (2-3, 3.78) vs. Jeff Suppan (8-7, 4.56).

COMMENTS: Luck stopped being a lady for the Dodgers last night, but that's life, that's what all the people say. If the Dodgers make the playoffs, then people will say it was a very good year. While the best is yet to come for young Kershaw, he can fly us to the moon by showing a little stopper mentality today—making sure the Dodgers and wins over quality teams aren't like strangers in the night, exchanging glances. And although the Dodgers with and without Manny Ramirez have been like day and night, night and day, it can't be only Manny and then send in the clowns. I mean, I get a kick out of Manny. You could say I've got him under my skin. But every player has to produce or this season will just end up being somethin' stupid.

We're heading out to Chavez Ravine thanks to SoSG ticket giveaway. Thanks guys! According to his stats as a Dodger, Manny is overdue for a homer. Accordingly, I will settle for nothing less. Viva Los!

Nice GT, Orel. Tommy Lasorda approves...

Orel said...

Grazie, Sax.

Kemp, CF
Ethier, RF
Kent, 2B
Manny, LF
Loney, 1B
Martin, C
Blake, 3B
Berroa, SS
Kershaw, P

Enjoy, LF! Don't let Gabe Kapler steal any more homers!

Frankly speaking, I like the GT. Now let's hope Kershaw can notch another summer win(d) today.

I wonder if Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee will be watching this game.

Orel said...

And if so, what would Dubee do?

Eric Karros said...

A pun that employs a set-up comment! Not sure I can top that.

Eric Karros said...

All my puns are nice 'n easy.

Solo HR by Kemp and a 2-run HR by Manny make it 3-0 Dodgers after the first. Power is nice.

Orel said...

Astros 3, D'backs 0 in the ninth.

Alex Cora said...

Hey I like the way the dodgers are hitting!

Alex Cora said...

Also fashion police update, Martin with the high socks!

karina said...

My son Martin should look adorable with the high socks.

karina said...

Kershaw seems to be the pitcher who always struggles in the first couple of innings.

Orel said...

Hopefully he'll settle down. He left Rancho Ardiendo in the second.

Alex Cora said...

Kershaw lets another man on to start the inning. Come on young pup settle down.

Alex Cora said...

That curve is great - But I still want to hear Vin say Public Enemy Number One!

Orel said...

3-1 Dodgers

Orel said...

Kershaw's not pitching great but he's gotten some timely double plays.

On Friday night, i went to my friend's birthday party (after i saw the Clone Wars twice). I could watch the game and one of my friends, who doesn't like baseball, was watching it with me. Before Martin homered, i was telling him he was my favorite player right now and i tried to explain his awesomeness. After the HR, my friend was surprised: he was saying: he bends on his knees, always throwing over and over and he hits home runs, he is a great athlete! then i explained him not only Martin does that, but his other attributes as well. My friend ended up saying:
"He's one of the greatest athletes i've ever seen"

Orel said...

ETHIER HR! This kid is good!

Orel said...

You made a convincing argument, Karina!

How was Clone Wars? Worth seeing? I guess so, if you saw it twice.

karina said...

Think all the talent and time wasted, when Ethier was riding the bench, to start an overpaid mediocre player.

karina said...

Well, Clone Wars was entertaining, not a masterpiece. I liked it overall, liked the female characters, the music (however there are fans who didn't like the music because it wasn't written by John Williams) among other things i won't say, so i don't spoil it for you.
Not only i saw it twice, i saw it twice by myself.

Orel said...

From one Star Wars geek to another, you have my admiration.

Alex Cora said...

Wow, Either flashing the power. Look at the young kids hitting the ball out of the park!

Orel said...

Oh boy, it's Sweeney.

Alex Cora said...

Karina: Did you see it back to back 2 showings in a row?

Alex Cora said...

You might not like Jason Johnson and his inconsistency, but anyone who pitches with an insulin belt pump is pretty cool.

karina said...

Yes, i saw the Clone Wars back to back showings in a row. By myself.

Thanks for your admiration, Orel.

Orel said...

Ethier doubles off McClung. He is making up for lost time.

Orel said...

Manny with a rocket off the glove of the third baseman. Ethier scores but Manny is thrown out trying to stretch at second. He upended Ray Durham but helped Durham to his feet before getting up himself.

5-1 Dodgers!

karina said...

Ethier has proved he's a great outfielder. I'm sure if Ethier and Kemp had played regularly all season, they'd be in the league's finest.

Orel said...

Chan Ho Park pulls a Chan Ho Park! 5-5 tie!

Alex Cora said...

Oh crap....tied up.

Alex Cora said...

Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap

Orel said...

EK would no doubt note that Park spelled backwards is....Krap.

Eric Karros said...

FYI, Ho Park backwards is Oh Krap

Eric Karros said...

I just proved your comment correct Orel! I just popped in, on the way home I saw it was 5-1, when I got home it was 5-5.

Orel said...

Time for another walk-off, boys!

Orel said...

You took it a word further, EK!

Orel said...

GREAT AB by Kemp. Waved at a few off-speed pitches but stayed patient and connected for a single.

Alex Cora said...

You called it Orel!!! WALK OFF!!!

Alex Cora said...

Dodgers win! Either with the walk off homerun. Back in first place! Go Blue!!!!!!!!

I confess that I turned off Charley Steiner's radio call, on my little helmet radio, when Park gave up the game-tying bomb.

Ten minutes later, I flipped it back on to hear the "you've been listening to Dodgers baseball"...blah blah blah blah blah blah. I figured we had won it...another Dinger with Andre!

Having said that, let's see if Torre benches Andre now...
