Game 123 Thread: August 16 vs. Brewers, 7p

Derek Lowe (9-10, 4.11) vs. Dave Bush (7-9, 4.35).

COMMENTS: Life is better when your team is winning. Sleep is more restful, because your dreams aren't laced with thoughts of If only they hadn't GIDP with the bases loaded in the seventh! Reading the sports section is easier, because there aren't reminders of futility on every page. And writing Game Threads is simpler, because discussing how your team is winning is more fun than bitching about why they aren't.

In other words, conditions are ripe for the Dodgers to win six straight. Lowe is most effective at Dodger Stadium (2.83 home ERA vs. 5.88 road ERA), and Bush has a 6.19 road ERA . Russell Martin provided some much-needed insurance last night with his first home run in the past 28 games. Matt Kemp (.298/.348/.472) continues to develop into the stud we all hoped he would be. And Manny Ramirez (.423/.524/.769 in 14 games for the Dodgers) continues to be a good citizen.

P.S.: Speaking of which, the ThinkCure Radio/Telethon continues! In fact, bidding on their online auctions doesn't close until August 24, so you have plenty of time to search the couch cushions for spare change.

Heading out to the game in a few minutes. Look for me in the front row in the section right near the left field foul pole. I'll be catchin any home runs that come my way.

DBacks keep the pressure on, will be nice to see the Dodgers impose their will.

PS. what the shit? I got the stupid Milwaukee feed on MLB.tv...does anyone have Vinny?

Unknown said...

Atta boy Nomar!

Unknown said...

Ethier has now eclipsed in this game alone the home run total for Juan Pierre as a Dodger....wooot!

karina said...

Ethier bomb!

karina said...

First, Kemp doubles, then Ethier homers. There's no way anyone can't love these youngsters.

Dodgers pitching has been good at stopping the big numbers from going up...the walks have seemed to be way down.

karina said...

Close game, though Lowe is pitching well, the Dodgers have been very lucky the Brewers have failed in the clutch.

karina said...

Lowe, 7 IP, 94 pitches, 8 H, O BB, 3 K.

Someone is buying the Brewer outfielders a nice steak dinner tonight

these outfielders are like beast from the xmen

Orel said...

Erin! Why didn't you stop that catch?!

Erin said...

You may have just seen me on TV, since Kapler just robbed Martin of that home run about eight feet to my left.

Also, for the first time ever, I'm a little drunk at Dodger Stadium.

karina said...

I saw that replay on the TV, but i missed you.

Erin said...

Believe me, I would have knocked that ball away from Kapler if it had been any closer to me.

karina said...

Tying run on the 3rd. One out.

Dodgers get a little taste of their own medicine. 3-2 Brewers. Do we see Gagne?

Orel said...

Erin, are you wearing a blue top with a white stripe on the sleeve, a cap and a mitt?

karina said...

Orel, it ain't over 'till it's over.

Erin said...

Yep, Orel. That's me.

karina said...

Why do i feel Suckweeney is pinch-hitting?

Orel said...

Let's play spot the Erin!

Erin said...

If anyone is going to give up the lead, it's Gagne.

Orel said...

I have the volume off. Did Gagne get cheered or booed?

karina said...

Do you want me to mark the spot and email it to you?

Erin said...

Lots of booing. And lots of cheering for Juan Pierre. My friend who's with me (a Cubs fan): "Are they trying to lose?"

Orel said...

Trap!

Orel said...

I'm afraid we may not be destined to win this game.

Orel said...

How close can you get???

Erin said...

Man. That ball looked out. Crap.

karina said...

I sent you an email.

Orel said...

Ethier! Kemp! Ramirez!

Erin said...

Let's go. Ninth inning win.

karina said...

Ethier walks!

Orel said...

Four great plays deserve one error! Manny ties it up!

Orel said...

lucky breaks against: 4

lucky breaks for: 2

Erin said...

mark sweeney. F*ck.

Orel said...

RANCHO ARDIENDO

karina said...

Suckweeney walks!

Orel said...

C'mon Casey, your turn in the spotlight.

karina said...

Rancho Ardiendo!

Orel said...

No Gonzo-esque walk-off for Blake.

Erin said...

I wish you all could be here. That inning was like game seven of the World Series in terms of the excitement level. I have no voice left.

Orel said...

A nice catch of our own by Kemp!

Orel said...

That rocks, Erin. Love that the regular season can be exciting too.

karina said...

Brox has to struck out Hardy. It'd be sweet revenge.

Orel said...

Ah, fuck.

Erin said...

Sure looked like Ethier should have charges that ball instead of letting it drop in front of him. Sh*t.

karina said...

I jinxed Broxton. My fault.

Erin said...

I mean charged.

Orel said...

C'mon, Kemp....

Orel said...

Atta boy, Matty!

Orel said...

Oh man why did Kemp hold up? Just playing it safe I suppose.

karina said...

That's the Bison we all have learned to love.

Orel said...

NO GIDP KENT

Orel said...

C'mon Manny!

karina said...

I guess it's very loud at Dodger Stadium right now. C-mon Manny!

Orel said...

The only first pitch Manny doesn't swing at...fastball down the middle.

Orel said...

aaaah shit

Erin said...

That. Was. Painful.

Orel said...

Better than a blowout though. See ya tomorrow!

karina said...

It was painful, but entertaining. They can't win every game, RIGHT?

Good night, everyone!
