Just reported on ESPN.com:
Arizona acquired Cincinnati Reds outfielder Adam Dunn, who is tied for the major league lead with 32 home runs, for three prospects.
The trade was first reported by KTAR Radio in Phoenix.
In exchange for Dunn, Cincinnati will receive minor league pitcher Dallas Buck and two other players to be named later. [...]
Dunn is tied with the Phillies' Ryan Howard for the NL lead with his 32 homers. The White Sox's Carlos Quentin also has 32 home runs. The Arizona Diamondbacks added a big bat Monday in their attempt to hold off the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West race.
"I see your big bat, and call."

Dodgers are 4-5 with Manny. Will Dunn elevate the D'backs above .500 ball?
How did we not block this trade? With a worse record, shouldnt it have been easy for us to just put a claim in without even taking him?
If you claim him, then you have to make an offer for him. What if the Reds said yes? Then we get a sixth outfielder and additional salary on the books.
At least I think that's how it works. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's a good description of the waiver process. It confuses me every year as well.
I know we'd have to make an offer, but we could just offer a bad class A player and its pretty doubtful the Reds would have accepted that.
But if they really wanted to get him off the books, they could've just given him to us for nothing in return. Since we would've claimed him we'd have to take him and his contract.
My memory's not 100%, but I think that's roughly how we got stuck with Loaiza last year...
