From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:
Dodgers: Billingsley stepped up with a clutch win over the Padres. He threw seven scoreless innings, matching his career-high nine strikeouts. He scattered four hits, walked none and allowed no runner past second base. The victory allowed the Dodgers to avoid being swept by the Padres. It was Billingsley's third consecutive victory.Giants: In his first start of the season, Sanchez made a strong bid to be included in the team's September rotation. He allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings, displaying impressive command on his changeup. The former reliever threw 98 pitches before being removed by manager Bruce Bochy, and has the benefit of an extra day of rest before his next outing.

Forget all of this playoff nonsense, the Angels are going to win the World Series.
That was a strange play - Slappy scores while kemp is caught in a pickle to end the inning.
Finally, the rutgers game is over and now the game is on ESPN HD.
Barry STRIKESOUT!!!! Go Bills!
I go take a shower and the score is tied - I guess molina hit a homerun. Pads are losing.
Why oh Why is Nomar playing? His at bats look pathetic. Five pitches, two outs, neither one past the infield.
Andy LaRoche, wherefore art thou?
AC, we've got Vin Scully on KCAL HD out here, so I'm taking that option. Who's calling on ESPN? Wonder Dog Hudler? Scott Van Pelt? Stuart Scott?
"If there was a barrel over at second base, Martin would hat thrown it right through that barrel." --Scully, on the strike that Martin threw to nail Ortmeier trying to steal second.
1-1 after 4.
AC: never take a shower again
Loney's HR yesterday vs. the Cubs was only the 100th HR for the Dodgers all year.
Still, they're third in the league for runs.
And Loney DOES IT AGAIN!!!
AZ in the lead 3-2 over St Louis. Rockies' lead over the Padres shrinks to 5-4.
Pierre, what are you waiting for, it's a 2-0 count with one out...
Pierre is distracting Sanchez enough to give Kemp a 3-0 count. Let's see if Kemp is swinging (I hope not).
SHOWS YOU WHAT I KNOW...Kemp bombs one to right center and it almost ends up at the 421 mark. With Pierre going, he scores easily. 3-1 Dodgers.
Nomar, now 0-for-3, strands Kemp at second by flying out weakly to Roberts. 3-1 Dodgers, to the bottom 5.
Nomar is not playing up to par--and his par is only .278. Please, LaRoche me.
oh yeah, Nomar's fly out was on pitch #1 of the at bat. Three outs for Nomar on six pitches.
Another thing I am SURE ESPN didn't mention in its broadcast--only in the third inning did the Giants fans start showing up behind home plate. Why is everyone getting there so late? HMMMMMMM???? Maybe it's not just an LA thing? HMMMMMMM?
Bills has given up only four hits and one run through six full frames. Nice job...
Yep, Grady is brilliant for leaving Bills in to hit with two out and a man on first. Bills singles on the second pitch to get on base.
If Martin had tagged and advanced on Loney's deep fly out to center, he might have gotten around to score on that single.
Viva Los Dodgers!
"Let's Go Dodgers!" chant audible in the background...NICE
Furcal is now 0-for-4. As much as I like Raffy, I think he may need a day off here too. He looks out of sorts, as he's looked for weeks.
Furcal has been playing hurt all year. Isn't next year his walk year? Means he should have a career year, if he can avoid Jason Repko, that is.
WTF was that? Bad D by Furcal and Kent.
AC, get the hell out of the shower again! Giants with two on and 0 out after Furcal muffs the throw to second.
Base hit to center--and you know that means runner scores from second EVEN though it's Barry Bonds on second. Even a slow Bonds beats a weak-ass Pierre arm.
3-2 Giants, man on third.
Good block by Martin. But we're not getting out of this inning with the lead.
3-3 tie. Inning still going. Sorry, Chad.
Dammit, Omar ties the game. Furcal, your error KILLED us.
Arizona beat the Rockies. Padres are losing.
FURCAL!!!!!
Guess this makes up for yesterday's game.
Okay Dodgers, SACK UP and win this game. Dodgers down 3-4.
Kemp working the count. C'mon, Matt!
Guess not. Backwards K.
TAKE A PITCH NOMAR
They don't belong in the playoffs with this shitty defense.
We could gain a game on the pads tonight, if we pull this out...
Beimel is still in, after having given up the go-ahead hit this game. We might as well have Roberto Hernandez on the damn mound.
Fasthands Beimel!
Well, at least Beimel can turn a DP.
Nice catch by Beimel.
BTW, Dusty, Sutcliff and some random dude are doing the ESPN call.
We need some more 9th inning magic! Get Sammy up - you gotta beieve!
Ninth inning, here we go....
Vin brings up a good point--the Dodgers stole one from the Cubs, and though it is a huge opportunity with the Padres' loss, at least we don't lose ground.
Martin goes down quickly. Here comes Loney.
our man Loney is up...

Martin looked to set up outside, brox grooved it inside - listen to your catcher...
I'll complete the trifecta by saying "shit."
Well, at least we don't slip any in the WC race.
