Cubs Luring Lugo...With Flypaper?

Sorry to riff on a great dodgerblues.com flash animation, but black-hole-in-the-batting-order Julio Lugo is reported to be coveted by the Cubs (according to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com).

Other rumors have him in deep talks with the Giants, which would be awesome, if they pay more than his current $5M/year and he takes his .219 BA up north.

Both the Cubs and Dodgers are throwing around a lot of money this off-season, but so far the Cubs' approach makes more sense: Lock up the power, then fill in the gaps. The Dodgers look like they're spending their power money on gap-fillers.

Your analysis assumes Pierre (a slap hitter) has the power to hit one into the gap...

By the way, isn't the gag that Lugo looks like he eats like a bird?
