Bud Black is hired as the new coach of the Padres, replacing Bruce Bochy, according to ESPN. Dusty Baker was reportedly the leading candidate, but the Padres, cognizant of MLB’s efforts to support the hiring of minority coaches, went for a different Black candidate.
