Post-Game 110 Thread: Shoulder, Sweep

DODGERS 1, CUBS 0

AJ Ellis knocked in a RBI single in the second inning, marking the only run of the game. Stephen Fife was pretty strong, 5.1 IP of shutout ball (2 BBs, 5 Ks), in his first trip back from the DL. The Dodgers completed the four-game sweep of the Cubs and have extended their consecutive road win streak to a franchise-record 14 games. With Arizona's loss to Boston today, the Dodgers have opened up a 5.5-game lead on first place, and a 12-game lead on the last-place Giants, who also lost today (to the Rays, 4-3).

I know, it's the Cubs. But we won all four games with the following starters: Ricky Nolasco, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Chris Capuano, and Stephen Fife. No Zack Greinke or Clayton Kershaw in that mix; we've saved them for the upcoming four-game series (what the hell is it with these four-game series?!) against the Cardinals.

The real news from today's game, however, was about Hanley Ramirez, who jammed his right shoulder falling into the stands in (successful) pursuit of a foul ball. He said he didn't hear it pop, which means we Dodger fans haven't heard our season hopes go "pop", either. Ramirez will have a MRI on Monday.

Time to watch some exercise videos and stay healthy.

Hanley is probably going to the DL. With a 5.5-game lead, the question is if we can hold on and just get him healthy for the playoffs.
