Ricky Nolasco (4-1, 2.97 ERA as a Dodger) vs. Cole Hamels (5-13, 3.65 ERA)
Goooooood morning everybody!
What's left to say? Dodgers go for the Sandberg sweep before jetting off to Miami for four games. This is an early one for those of us on the West Coast, so we'll be getting our Bloody Marys on while cheering for the lads in Blue.
Forty games left. If we go 20-20, we finish 92-70. Not that we should set the bar low; aiming for 30-10 is not out of the question.
No Brian Wilson sighting yet, but keep your heads on a swivel! And don't let him try to hone in on your Bloody Marys.

Mmmmm. Breakfast baseball.
I need grease and Dodger baseball.
M Ellis 2B
Punto 3B

Nolasco P
We're putting in our C team today, but I still feel it.
Per Tony Jackson, "Lots of rain in the forecast, so it could be a long afternoon before the Dodgers board their charter for Miami."
Wish i could nap between rain delays.
Not liking the rain delay. How will we ever recover in time to face the formidable foe that is Miami?!
Just kidding. I hope we get this game in on time. I'm about to launch into an Ultimate Skillet (I will save the Grand Slam for the Dodgers today)
@DB 8:22a: that's exactly the type of insightful reporting I expected to get from T-Jax
(I kid)
AJEllis and Crawdaddy rest today
Saxy is sassy this morning!
Super, super Frank!
Super, super Frank!
Super, super Frank!
Super Frankie Lampard!
Chelsea win their opener 2-0.
Playball!
Dre!
annndre ETHIER!!!
it's a Dre Day
I missed the Dre bomb as I wA walking to the cantina. Wow!
Some Angels "fans" here I know starting to convert to Dodgers. Plenty of room on the bandwgon.
kazaam
Did folks pick up the story during last night's game where apparently Dre likes to use everyone else's bat, and how he just goes around grabbing bats until he finds one he likes? Hilarious. FB especially would like that story so we should remember to relay it to him when he returns from his walkabout.
Dammit. Ruf took Nolasco out of the Yard. 2-1 Dodgers.
Dbacks losing 2-0, T6
I hear that story Dusty! Told Scott today.
Ugh
SF losing 4-3 in the sixth.
Uttley error allows Puig to reach.
DBags and Pie Rats tied at two.
BW Looks like a freak. He doesn't belong here
Puig. When ya gonna learn
Blasphemy I know, but we need to bench Puig and let him know why. He can't keep making STOOPID base running mistakes.
Marlins take a 4-3 lead on giants, but giants are threatening in the top of the top of the sixth...nope. 4-3, B6.
Diamondbacks and Pirates tied at 2, B7
Kemp likely out until September, as per Dodgers
Puig really costing us now. Risky throw to third lets the runner advance to second.
Phils claw one out in the sixth. 2-2 through six.
Will we sub in some of our regulars the last inning or two to try to get the W and get out of town?
Giants tie marlins at 4, t7. Bumgarner only lasted five and now the marlins are into the squishy bullpen (though to be fair it's the squishier marlins).
D'backs have a runner at third with two out in the top of the eighth.
Indeed, we will. Uribe in for Enrique.
And Didi Gregorious makes the third out in Pittsburgh. On to the bottom of the eighth, tied at 2
Uribe PH here. Is the Juan Magic alive?
FedEx is 1-for-3 with 2 Ks today. He's batting .229.
Uribe Ks. Two out
T Fed never looks like he's comfortable at the plate. Wish we had more backup options at catcher.
Mellis with the third out. Hamels still going, 118 pitches.
@DB: like Carlos Santana?
Time to put in Brad Lidge......oh.
I'd take a post-steroidal Paul LoDuca over T Fed.
Leadoff single but Hamels' bunt gets the force at second, and Michael Martinez Ks. Two out.
Not sure why Hamels was batting there in the first place
Puig nabs the fly out for out #3. On to the eighth!
Giants up 5-4 B7
D-backs have a runner at first with two out, T9, tied at 2
Marlins tie it at 5
B9 in Pittsburgh. Lets go, Pirates
Four-pitch walk to Punto
Ramirez bounces into a 1-6-3 GIDP. Boo.
Pirates get a lead off walk in the ninth
Yeah why was Hamels batting in that situation?
Puig flies out to end the eighth.
Puig needs a day off.
Using Paco a lot these days. If Spanky's boy friend Wilson were activated, he could be helpful in spreading the work around down the stretch.
But Paco reaches deep down and gets three outs. Well done! Now let's get a run or two and get out of town.
Wouldn't it be sweet to light up Papelbon here?
JHa with a single to keep the inning alive.
Look, Phillies fans leaving early.
Love seeing people leave with a tie game B9
Tied at 2 in Pittsburgh as well, B10
I feel a DAMMIT coming on!
Marlins take a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth
Steiner just called the Dodgers' magic number at 33.
That's gotta jinx things, right?
Asche K
ESPN.com has a really nice story on the child with SMA who threw out the first pitch at the AZ game. http://m.espn.go.com/wireless/story?storyId=9568358
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
An old colleague works for Make A Wish and helped make that story happen, Sax.
11th in Pittsburgh.
Ramirez' error gives the Phillies a runner, then Ruiz nails one to put runners at the corners with one out. Nice play by Puig.
@Dusty: that is awesome about your friend. Well done.
Going to the bottom of the 11th in Pittsburgh.
I think the Marlins just beat the Giants 6-5
League had Young 0-2 and now it's 2-2
"Ramirez bobbles the ball. The game is over."
Time to root for Pittsburgh.
I knew I should have ordered the grand slam breakfast this morning
I'm wearing my HanRam shirt today, and he does this to us. Crushed.
At least the Giants lost.
A...loss?
D'backs have a RISP in the top of the 12th, two out
Bottom 12th, Pie rats with man on 3rd. McCutcha up.
IBB to McCutcha.
JMart asked to get the walkoff.
Russ pops it up. We go to the 13th.
Time to start a fresh winnin streak.
PGT up.
Let's swing this Pirates thread over to there.
