Chris Capuano (4-6, 4.50) vs. Dillon Gee (8-8, 3.82)
Another wacky stat from this wacky season: Since returning from the DL on June 19th, Capuano has given up either 5 or 0 earned runs in nine starts. Here's the pattern: 0,0,5,5,0,5,0,0,5. I'm hoping tonight is a 0 ER start, but if you look at it in sets of three, that means another 5 ER start tonight.
Thankfully, the offense is getting a boost that could overcome a 5 ER start from Cap, in the form of Hanley Ramirez. HanRam will make his first start since jamming his shoulder in Chicago on August 4th. Hanley is .500 with a home run against Gee in the past.*
A win tonight means a sweep, a 6-0 homestand, an 8-game winning streak, and a ton of momentum heading into yet another East Coast swing.
*Uh, small sample size alert: That's in 2 AB.
