Kershaw's Astronomical Performance Has Family Lineage

I'm a bit behind in my Sports Illustrated issues, but the August 12 2013 issue (Peyton Manning / Broncos cover) had this tidbit in the Extra Mustard section:

Who Knew...Clayton Kershaw's great uncle discovered Pluto?

In 1930, Clyde Tombaugh—who was just 24 and had abandoned his plans to go to college after a hailstorm decimated the family's crops—made the discovery while working at the Lowell Observatory in Arizona. Tombaugh, whose brother's daughter is the mother of the Dodgers' ace, was an avid astronomer who had built his first telescope a few years earlier using the shaft from his father's 1910 Buick.

So that explains why Kershaw is otherworldly!
