A Dodger Fan's Final Vote Conundrum

Congratulations to Clayton Kershaw for making the 2013 All-Star Game team outright. For us Dodgers fans, getting a second Dodger on the team is going to be a challenge.

The heart says to go with Yasiel Puig, the Cuban phenom who has sparked the Dodgers back into contention since his amazing June debut. Batting .407 with 24 runs, 8 HR, 19 RBI and 4 SB, Puig has a small sample size of a body of work, but still would make a worthy inclusion to the All-Star Game team.

The mind says to reward another worthy inclusion, Adrian Gonzalez, who has basically carried this team throughout the year amidst a rash of injuries and slumps affecting the rest of the lineup. A-Gon is batting .296 with 33 runs, 13 HR, and 53 RBI. And unlike Puig, he's been delivering all year long.

Which Dodger to choose? I'm torn.

(Vote here, by the way.)

If Puig gets in, I really hope he stays away from the home run derby

Listening to ESPN radio this morning. Marty breneman says no way should Puig be in. Steve Garvey says puig should not only be in, he should start.

I'm with Dad on this one.

Brennaman is a scumbag Red. Not much more needs to be said about him.

It's hilarious to hear all e ASG strict constructionists saying Puig shouldn't be in. Like it's any sort of science or math-driven process, and not just a huge popularity contest won by players on teams that have larger fan bases. Look, I love the ASG but I take it as what it is: an exhibition game meant to advertise for the sport.
