All-Star Game Thread, 4:30p

AMERICAN LEAGUE

1B Chris Davis, Orioles
RF Jose Bautista, Blue Jays
DH David Ortiz, Red Sox
CF Adam Jones, Orioles
C Joe Mauer, Twins
SS J.J. Hardy, Orioles

P Max Scherzer, Tigers

NATIONAL LEAGUE
2B Brandon Phillips, Reds
RF Carlos Beltran, Cardinals
1B Joey Votto, Reds
3B David Wright, Mets
LF Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies
C Yadier Molina, Cardinals
SS Troy Tulowitzki, Rockies
DH Michael Cuddyer, Rockies
CF Bryce Harper, Nationals

P Matt Harvey, Mets

The Dodgers sole — and most deserving — All-Star, Clayton Kershaw, figures to see an inning or two of action in the first half of tonight's game. (By the way, where's his damn contract extension?)

Meanwhile, the guys who should have been accompanying Kershaw are getting some well-deserved R&R. Yasiel Puig is partying it up while Hanley Ramirez is apparently chillin' in Cabo.

This is your only baseball for the next three days (cries), so enjoy. Go NL!

I'm worried that Puig is hanging with Snoop Dog at the Mansion...Seriously, is that the best person he could find to spend his free time with?

Orel said...

Don't worry, Snoop is franchise-approved!

I'm more concerned about Puig hanging out with Chris Brown. I don't know how Matt Kemp's relationship with Rihanna ended, but if they're still friends, Kemp and Puig might soon be enemies!

Kershaw will be the second pitcher in the game, after Harvey's two innings. (Unless Harvey shits the bed or something.)

Steve Sax said...

In which case, Kershaw has to remake the bed? I don't get it.

Orel said...

He has the strip the bedsheets à la Rick Monday running off with the flag.

ASG expectations: Kershaw pitches at least two perfect innings, hits a HR, and flips his bat like Puig.

Hideo Nomo said...

Apparently, they've been using the DH for all ASGs since 2010, and I've never noticed.

QuadSevens said...

That makes two of us Nomo.

QuadSevens said...

I still want to see Kershaw flip his bat like Puig!

QuadSevens said...

There wasn't even a DH option on the NL ballot. How do fans pick the starter for that position?

Orel said...

The NL can use the DBF.

QuadSevens said...

I like it!

QuadSevens said...

NL starter is not the leader in innings, wins, or ERA and his team is 9 games under .500. Seems like a good decision.

QuadSevens said...

Lead off double and then nailed Cano in the knee.

Shea Stadium, the radium, EMD squared.

Paul said...

Yeah great choice Bochy.

Hideo Nomo said...

The bed-shitting has begun!

Cliff Beefpile said...

Ouch. That sounded nasty. I'm sure Skankee fans are up in arms.

Paul said...

I think the Dodgers take Game 1 and 2 of the Fall Classic anyways. Close it out in LA.

BJ Killeen said...

Re: Orel...not feeling better about Puig and the Dog, nor the gf beater, either. I do like the idea of the series Dugout Drama, but that's being handled by the Marlins.

And as far as the DH, the MLB player's union boss wants the NL to adopt it, to which I say FU. We have the best hitting pitchers in the world, and I'm not sitting them on the bench so Urine can come in and strike out.

So there. BTW, just commenting. Not watching the game. Trying to finish my Maserati GT TC review and stay ahead of Orel in Candy Crush Saga.

Paul said...

Okay so we close it out in Boston. I always wanted to go in the fall.

Cliff Beefpile said...

Nice swing, Cargo. Dumb-ass.

Orel said...

So now Kershaw is a fly-ball pitcher?

Orel said...

1-2-3! Good job, CK!

QuadSevens said...

That's what an ASG starting pitcher looks like.

MR.F said...

NL Pitchers who have pitched today without giving up a hit: Clayton Kershaw.

Sorry O. It is Sax.

BJ Killeen said...

yeah Bochy, by all means don't start Kershaw. And you wonder why the gnats suck

MR.F said...

Oyster Pubes strikes out, lol.

Hideo Nomo said...

Watch Mo give up four.

Orel said...

Great reception for Rivera.

MR.F said...

Goldshit double is just the NL's 3rd hit.

MR.F said...

NL dies. Because no Puig.

MR.F said...

Preach it, Spank.

Hideo Nomo said...

Pfffft.

Paul said...

Okay that wasn't fun.

On to first place Dodgers!

Paul said...

Wait Pagan's inside the park homerun in that stupid triples alley is the number one moment of the first half? What a crappy first half it must have been.

Steve Sax said...

@BJ: CCS level update?!
