Post-Game 91 Thread: Cap, Mellis Deliver

The Dodgers continued the tennis scoring as the kickass Chris Capuano showed up tonight, striking out eight over 6 1/3 scoreless innings. Mark Ellis did the offensive damage, going 3 for 4 with four RBIs.

Word is getting out about Hanley, as he drew two intentional walks. Belisario, who pitched yesterday, added 1 2/3 scoreless tonight and Brandon League (!) closed it out despite allowing a mammoth home run to Cargo.

Only downside is that Puig left the game in the 7th with what the Dodgers are calling "an aggravated left hip." Breath: held.

D'bags and Gints also win, but the Dodgers can only take care of their own business. Kershaw tomorrow!

Is it hip to be aggravated?

Charley and Kevin Kennedy (subbing for Rick Monday) said that this was the best they'd seen Capuano all year. Nothing like a little Nolasco Sauce to fire up some internal competition! But great for Cap as well--a rising tide lifts all boats.

Except the SS League.

The Times says Cap has tweaked his throwing motion to get on top of his breaking balls. This can be clearly seen in his motion on the highlights. If he can pitch like this the rest of the year we have a very good #5 starter and the best rotation in baseball with Nolasco now in the fold.

It doesn't hurt that he faced a Rockies team that has scored 1 run or less in 5 of their last 7.

Then again the last pitcher they toasted was Cap himself.
