Brad Penny (5-7, 5.45) vs. Jason Marquis (3-3, 5.02).
COMMENTS: Here we are, just having lost a humiliating series to the Rockies. Now we're one win away from taking a four-game series against the best team in baseball. Additionally, the Diamondbacks lost today, so a Dodgers win would put them only three games back in the standings.
Penny gets the chance to not embarrass himself on national television. He's not improving as rapidly as Derek Lowe, but the Dodger bats figure to do some damage against Marquis. And let's hope Dodger Stadium's five o'clock shadows don't mess the players up too much today. We don't anyone going down for ESPN's sake.

Sax is taking his whole family to today's game, sitting in the nosebleeds (stub hub, $4 each!). Let's hope a bad Penny doesn't turn up.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for Penny tonight. I don't think I'll be able to watch a second of it because I am being forced to go out and be social. And no one else cares about baseball. Blasphemous, I know.
I feel your pain, Erin.
I see Furcal getting fielding practice and suddenly feel warm and dizzy...miss him...
Average of opposing teams against Penny with RISP: 425.
King James with the single to the opposite field, no outs.
Single by son Martin, let's go blue!
Loney walks!
Matt Kemp struck out in 5 pitches, all of them were sliders...
Lee made a great catch that meant Dodgers couldn't tie the game
The same date of today, in 1955, Tommy Lasorda was sent to the Montreal Royals to give a spot in the major league club to a lefty called Sandy Koufax.
*sigh*
Pierre doubled, Ethier walks!
Dodgers are 12-18 without Furcal. He hasn't played in 30 games and he still leads the team in runs scored.
Steiner also mentioned that the Dodgers are 2-27 when trailing after 7.
Karina, thanks for holding down the fort!
Looks like another typical Dodgers loss. Off-day tomorrow, time to regroup.
Oh, and the Lakers are just getting slaughtered. I saw you smile there, Erin.
It's a pleasure, Orel.
Another loss, but they won the series!
see you on Tuesday
Good Night.
