Twin Cities Treasure

Just as the Cross of Coronado belongs in a museum, Johan Santana belongs on the Twins.

MLB Trade Rumors remarks upon early speculation on Santana's future:

Mets And Johan Santana?

Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press throws it down:

"Don't be surprised if the New York Mets, and not the Yankees, end up with Johan Santana for $20 million a year after the Twins' Cy Young Award winner becomes a free agent after the 2008 season"....

Of course, this story from January 29th should not be ignored. The Twins will approach Santana about a contract extension, and Santana is willing to work something out.

As MLBTR says, "He's only the best pitcher in baseball."

Here's hoping Terry Ryan can devise a way to retain Santana at a fair price—as fun as it is dreaming about Johan in blue, even this Dodger fan thinks Santana should be a Twins lifer.

Right now, the Mets have a pitching lineup that resembles the Washington Generals.

Spare me the Mets' pitching rotation woes. At least the Mets have some power bats in their lineup.

And Herschel Walker, with all those pushups and situps, could probably throw a mean fastball. (Oh wait, is that the wrong Generals?)

as a White Sox fan, I hope he goes to the Dodgers.

I must say he was great as a Dodger when I traded Dreifort for Santana in MLB 2006 for the PS2 - just like real life!
