Scoreboard Watching: ALCS Game 5 (Oct. 17, 2013) 5p

Anibal Sanchez (1-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Jon Lester (0-1, 1.42 ERA)

With the Boys in Blue on a travel day to St. Louis, we do have one playoff game to track today. Red Sox look to rebound from their ass-whuppin' yesterday in what figures to be another great pitching matchup. Series is 2-2 now, so this is a crucial game before the series moves back to Boston.

Let's enjoy this game before the pressure mounts tomorrow in another do-or-die for the Dodgers.

Just saw your Hitchhiker's Guide comment on the crappy towel post, Gnomes. (the towel was crappy, not the post). Nice one.

Sox go down easily in the first.

Dusty Baker said...

Tigers had two on in their half of the first, but Stacy Peralta put the ball in play, Cabrera tried to get Miggy widdit and was thrown out at home.

Dusty Baker said...

Even Tim Wallach was like, Damn I wouldn't have sent Cabrera.

Dusty Baker said...

Napoli with a han solo HR makes it 1-0.

Dusty Baker said...

Humphrey Bogart double scores Jonnnny Gomes, who had reached on a throwing error by Cabrera. 2-0 BOS.

Dusty Baker said...

Now David Ross doubles and Anibel is on the ropes. Two on with one out.

Dusty Baker said...

Cadbury single scores Bogart. 3-0. Coaching visit to mound, needless to say.

Dusty Baker said...

Napoli's HR was apparently a monsta - 460 feet. Look forward to seeing the highlight reel.

Dusty Baker said...

She (Anibel) got out of the inning finally. Damage: three runs given up and 41 pitches through only two.

Dusty Baker said...

3-0 after two.

You folks do know that the American League exists, right?

Buck, McCarver, Rosenthal and Andrews. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse than TBS.

Also, what is this rain bullshit?

Cliff Beefpile said...

Fielder really sucks when it comes to the LCS.

Dusty Baker said...

DET making a run at it. 4-2 bottom of the 6th.

BJ Killeen said...

Cliff,TBS is still worse.

Dusty Baker said...

DET grabs another run but still trails 4-3 after 7.

Good game.

Dusty Baker said...

Well that's one of the strangest plays you'll see. Miggy was playing way in to field the bunt. He threw the runner out at first but the runner who was already on second broke for third as Pena (catcher) was late to cover. Play at third, but bc Pena tried to tag from around the wrong side, his tag tagged the ump, not the runner. Crazy.

And Uhura gets a 5-out save to preserve the 403 win for BOS. The series heads back to Boston with them up 3-2.

Hideo Nomo said...

Both series go to 6, under slightly different circumstances. Both home teams only need one win. Both teams on the brink are throwing (presumptive) Cy Young winners.

Baseball is the FUCKING BEST, man!

Hideo Nomo said...

I meant presumptive 2013 winners. Kid K already is one, natch.

Dusty Baker said...

Yep. If we weren't square in the middle of it, I'd really be enjoying the drama.

As it is, I'm shivering under the covers.

Paul said...

Just had a horrible thought...Game 7, extra innings, Marmol on the mound...

Michael Young playing SS! Boo!
