Now that the Dodgers have chosen to go with Don Mattingly as the coach for 2014, everything should be settled, right? Well, except for the fact that it may have come at the cost of 3B Coach Tim Wallach:

Wallach has been one of the leading managerial candidates for the past few seasons. Look, we always knew that Wallach was a desirable managerial candidate. I liked him as a third base coach, however, despite that horrible call to send Mark Ellis home in the 10th inning of NLCS Game 1. Watching Glenn Hoffman hold back 20+ runs each year at third base anesthetized me from that pain.
Bringing back Donnie might be fine, but it would be a pity if we lost Wallach as a result.

If by some miracle he doesn't get nabbed by someone, how about make him the bench coach to replace Hillman? Is that not a promotion from third-base coach? Or do you need some old fart "classic" baseball mind like Don Zimmer?
