At Least There's One Player Who's Pissed Off

From "Trying to cheer up one particular Dodger is rather dicey" by T.J. Simers at the LA Times:
[Matt Treanor's] getting really upset, and I'm the one who has been stopped from spreading joy. He says it's unbelievable the local paper isn't supporting the team and I never write anything positive. [...]

He tells me to meet him outside. I have a pass to get back in but I worry he might not. He says, "In the dugout." [...]

In the dugout, Treanor swears a lot, puts a finger in my face and when a team official suggests he apologize, Treanor goes on an obscenity-filled rant.

Simers' love-them-or-hate-them schtick has gotten stale, but occasionally it can still be revealing. Treanor's explosion at the columnist's glib antagonism is patronizingly portrayed as a character flaw, but instead I see a fiery attitude mostly absent from the Dodgers' on-field demeanor.

So, good job, Matt. You've done what many L.A. athletes, past and present, wish they could have. And we're glad to see we're not the only ones fed up with this season.

Attaboy Matt. Keep doing it.

Personally, I believe everybody on the team cares as much as Matt does, that this hurts as much as it does Matt.

Yeah, Matt, way to go. Now how 'bout you work on getting on base...well, getting in the lineup...before the end of the season.
