This one was close, folks. Too close. Some of us may have even had to change our undies. Some of us probably needed to do so, anyway (Ahem....Stubbs...you, too, Marla). Joe Blanton pitched a solid game, but again the noffense (TM) couldn't get much going besides sole home runs from Hanley Ramirez (ten with the Dodgers now) and a 9th-inning, game-tying Dre Day-style home run from Andre Ethier. Not to overlook Luis Cruz's key contributions; he had a career-high four hits in the game, which included a single with two outs in the 11th inning to set up AJ Ellis' game-winning single, scoring Ethier and keeping Mattingly from having to use Adam Kennedy to pinch hit.

I feel like I had to work hard for this win despite the fact that it's Labor Day. Can we get a more comfortable, routine win tomorrow, folks?

Don Mattingly, on Nick Punto's penchant for tearing jerseys for a walk-off win: "We can get more jerseys. Keep doing it."
Fortunately, we cannot get more Puntos.
