Preseason Game 17 Thread: March 19 vs. Indians, 1p

Birthday boy Clayton Kershaw is on the bump today matching up against the Indians' Jeanmar Gomez. Our newly minted Cy Young winner has yet to allow his first earned run in spring training, and looks to continue that trend today. Will I see Kid K's name next to a "W" in the box score at the end of the day, or will it show me Jeanmar*?

*I know it's not pronounced that way, but the pun is too horrible to resist.

Franklin Stubbs said...

I should be, but I'm not.

After all, bad puns Irrawaddy have come to expect around here.

Dusty Baker said...

I'm Andamant, Sea, about you guys knocking out these horrible puns.

Dusty Baker said...

Mandalay goes by slowly when I have to listen to your puns, Stubbs.

Dusty Baker said...

Mariners have released Hong-Chiu Kuo. Jason, you're closest, so can you get over to the scene and give us some in-depth coverage of this news?

Orel said...

Alternatively, you may drink a beer in Kuo's honor.

Franklin Stubbs said...

I'm running out of viable puns, Dusty, so let that fact Malay your fears a bit.

Orel said...

You lying Bago...!

Franklin Stubbs said...

Phuket...you're right. I can't help myself.

@Dusty

I work for the freaking team owner and I learned about Kuo's release here.

Too bad, I would have gladly added a Kuo Mariners (replica) jersey next to my Trayvon Robinson. I'd have to get the Robinson jersey first, but still.

Did Cleveland get new hats this year? I don't recall the 'C' logo looking so much like the Cubs cap in recent years.

Quit Yangon my chains, Stubbs!

Jason said...

If you guys don't cut out these puns, I'm Amarapura 'cross the knuckles.

Franklin Stubbs said...

Malacca self-discipline is really evident here.

Jason said...

I will be Penang a strongly worded letter to SoSG headquarters about all these Shenyangins.

Jason said...

Ethier breaks up the no-hitter.

Then gets stranded by Rivera and Kennedy. Par-for-2012.

Dusty Baker said...

Mizoram loves company, so I'm glad you guys are around the GT today.

Why Kayin we score any runs today?

Franklin Stubbs said...

Oh, the Chittagong to have to put up with from SoSG HR, now...

Jason said...

Too few Hittites and too many at-bats that can just are best described as Gobi-in-the-dugout?

Dusty Baker said...

Nice one, Stubbs. I had been toying with "Chittagong" all afternoon but couldn't quite work it in.

Dusty Baker said...

Did GameDay have adverts in the right "column" last season?

Franklin Stubbs said...

Yeah, I believe they did. I seem to remember some being animated, which was particularly annoying.

Jason said...

Carlos Santana absolutely crushed that ball.

(cries)

(beats dead horse)

Franklin Stubbs said...

Son. of. a. hur.

Jason said...

Cleveland announcers starting in with the "Hu's on short?" jokes.

Franklin Stubbs said...

Sellers!

Steve Sax said...

Why is gameday stalled at 4-2 in the ninth?

For a second there it went to 4-3 CLE, and then reverted, and now is stalled

Dusty Baker said...

Buyers!

remorse after signing Urine.

Dusty Baker said...

Mine is stalled, too.

Jason said...

DAMMIT! The MLB.tv feed just went offline. Now what am I supposed to do at the office? Work?

Jason said...

Did Arizona suddenly drop off the face of the Earth? Someone get MLASC on it, stat!

Steve Sax said...

Final 2-0 CLE (7)?!?!?!?!

Franklin Stubbs said...

Curious...

Jason said...

My Gameday now lists us in warmups for the top of the 9th.

Also, there are blowout auctions going on for 32 GB iPads. Blowout auctions? I don't think they understand the marketing term, "blowout."

Jason said...

Who the hell is Jake Lemmerman?

Steve Sax said...

Two more errors for Hairston today...AGAIN

Jason said...

To be fair, the first error by Hairston was in no way his fault since he was practically run over by Sellers as he threw the ball to first.

Dusty Baker said...

I believe we lost 4-3 in some amount of innings greater than 5.

Franklin Stubbs said...

It's Schrödinger's box score. We have neither won nor lost until it's observed.

Fred's Brim said...

Can we call Uribe "Schrödinger's Fat"? He is unable to observe any of the pitches that sail past him, but we already know the outcome of the events

Hideo Nomo said...

The auction was for blown out iPads.

@FB 5:49p: f'ing brilliant. LOL.
