One part that I thought related to this headline was :

"So much more of what he (the closer) does depends on the performance of his team and his teammates (Derek Jeter). A bad team isn't going to afford many save opportunities. A very good team, in the habit of winning games by wide margins, may not, either."

So I guess we could say that Jeter was good enough to give his team a lead, but not good enough to give them a big lead.
