Split Squad @ Angels, 12p
Split Squad @ Giants, 12p (on KABC radio)
2011 Dodgers Spring Training Schedule (Dodgers.com)
COMMENTS: It's tiiiiimmme for Dodger baseball! Meaningless, half-speed Dodger baseball, but Dodger baseball nonetheless!
From @truebluela:
Dodgers are playing two split squad games Saturday; Don Mattingly will manage vs Giants, Lorenzo Bundy will manage vs Angels
From @dylanohernandez:
Source: Josh Suchon of DodgerTalk on his way to AZ. Will be here for first show of the year, which will follow broadcast of [today's] game.
Random thought from SoSG Sax: They should totally broadcast live play-by-play from both games simultaneously, just for kicks.

Whoa Bundy!
After yesterday's comments, why am I not surprised Josh S. is the first GT commenter?
Except I was so fast, I forgot to change to a Dodger-related avatar. Problem solved (but cardinal rule violated).
There will be no baserunning gaffes in this thread!
Avatar change made as well.
Lineup for Giants game:
Gwynn 8
Carroll 6
Loney 3
Barajas 2
Thames DH
Paul 7
Kapler 9
DeJesus 4
Miles 5
It took me a few seconds to remember who Miles is.
Lineup for Angels game:
Hoffmann 7
Navarro 2
Ethier 9
Kemp 8
Gimenez DH
Mitchell 5
Sands 3
Sellers 4
Castro 6
Who starts in both games? I think Kuroda gets one of them but I'm not 100% sure of that.
When did Darius Miles leave the NBA?
Tim Redding is supposed to start the game against the Giants. Kuroda goes against the Angels.
WOOP!
BOOOOO eff you, HOs
TG Jr has outfield power. I did not know that
Charlie overselling Jamie Carroll already
Has anybody done a study on how teams with split squads do in the regular season? I would guess that they have too many players in camp and the real players don't get the reps they need but I have no real idea
Teams rarely have split squad games, and even when they do, they clear out the minor league camp to have enough players available for both teams. I highly doubt it has much impact on regular season play.
RoddyB with a hit! 1st and 3rd
@DB - I really like HOs. I used it earlier but wanted to give you the credit
XP sends one to the track for the third out. That eliminates him from the left field chase
Kuroda retires the side in order in Tempe. Top of the second against Anaheim.
On the sofa, Vinny!!!
YOU'RE STILL FAT, FATTY
Wait, who IS Miles? Besides my brother's son, who I am grooming to pitch for the Dodgers some day.
Aaron Miles, I believe.
Whoa, MLASC, what did I do to make you say that?
Oh, wait, that wasn't for me.
Alannah Myles
Bad timing. My comment was directed to the whale in orange and black.
SIDDOWN, LARD LAD
I forgot how much I hate that tub of goo.
Redding gets a K to end the inning. Gotta love hearing the HO fans groan after the strikeout
the first Farmer John ad of the season!
I am the official hot dog and sausage of the FB household
Kemp's on third, one out with Russ Mitchell up in Tempe.
wait - i thought XP flied out last inning.
Oh, that was Thames. That would have gone out at New Yankee Arena
Kemp scores on a sac fly. Dodgers 1, Angels 0.
Actually Charlie, Chris Duhon is the pride of Slidell, LA
"Have your picture taken with the Rally Monkey..."
hehe the Angels
Pride of Slidell, LA!
I've been to Slidell. Not much to be proud of.
I'm listening to the hated ones game. My father in law remarked that it was good to hear a baseball game on the radio (er, iPad) even if it was Steiner.
Dusty Baker: pride of Buena Park, CA Shakey's Pizza.
yeah me too. I've been switching between, but like hearing the home call. Monday is away with his wife who is having surgery so it's just Charlie
Fred's Brim: Shame of Greenpoint, Brooklyn
Sanchez bounced!
I thought Belisario was not in camp? Oh shit horse racing. Wrong channel.
The JV squad has something cooking - our first Ranch Ardiendo!
Okay, I'm fairly certain Donnie's the pride of Evansville.
you can hear the vendor in the background. it sounds like he's saying "ice cold beer, penis"
and Jamie Carroll strikes out to end the threat
I saw Cedar Rapids last night and liked it quite a bit. John C Reily could make me laugh by reading a telephone book
"LEMONADE LIKE GRANDMA MADE"
I...
I have nothing.
Rubby De La Rosa is in for Kuroda against the Angels.
Rub-a-dub style!
So far pretty good pitching between both teams. Three hits in four+ innings.
Thames gets a ground-rule double.
Awesome baserunning decisions already.
Thames driven in by Kapler!
Pabalo Sandowich can't handle the grounder, rancho ardiendo, 2 outs
Can we cut Miles already?
@FB
Cold beer penis is exactly how Mrs Dusty described me last night.
heh heh
oh Rubby
I think we are already rounding into mid-season form on this blog.
there is definitely some unfinished business after last season
There is, FB. I still need to leave some top shelfs for some fools upstate.
speaking of unfinished business, time for a nap
do it, DB!
I heard another term for a top shelf, and it was good, but I can't remember what it was
maybe it was upper decker
Send Carlos back to philly
Then re-re-claim him!
The Dodger/Angel game is on KLAA, if anyone cares.
I was listening to the one on KABC in the car, but Charley already drove me nuts with 75 bajillion "looking to hook on"s.
Heh...upper deck.
I'll leave an upper deck all star hologram in SF toilets around the city.
Hey, my GameDay Audio still works!
Watch out for hook-on's
What is KLAA on the dial? I realize that's a fairly bourgeois question but I really have no idea.
MLB app is supplying both games with both home and away feeds, FYI.
Wow, this comment turned out to be a lot more bourgeois than originally intended.
Listening to the dodgers getting beat on two radio stations.
(cries)
Josh- all the ST games are free to get people to hook on to an MLB subscription.
DB: 830AM
AKA the time you start drinking.
830 am
Or at least a lot of them are free.
I think GameDay Audio subs also renew automatically, unless you tell them not to. I can't remember if I did or not.
Hah! That was pretty strong, Josh.
For the record, I am cracking my first beer of the day as I type this. Beer status: Miller Lite from the old man-in-law's garage fridge.
Beto Duran already with his tired anti dodgers jokes.
We are collectively losing 8-2.
I don't mean to keep going on about this, but I will...got DAMN it's cool to be sitting on the back patio with the game(s) streaming on the old iPad and the SoSG GT on my screen...life is good! What a setup.
By the by, Nic, it's good to hear from you. It's been awhile.
7-1 HOs. I'm switching over to the game we're not losing as badly in.
Yeah. Had to take the offseason....
Off.
Good to be back though, missed you guys.
My father in law just remarked that it seems like just the other day that the Giants won the WS. I had t slap that bitch down. WTF? He just likes poking at me like that. Now I will drink all his crappy beer.
Who's Corey Smith?
Does he have a hotline?
Well, um...
At least Kuroda looked good.
Joe Block will save us.
Already two games under .500
Hey, there's hockey on!
Kings falling apart
Joe block is a little bland
I want to punch TJ Simers repeatedly in the face. His latest "article" is about as shallow and bitchy as they come. I think he actively tries to find ways to be more of a jackass with each passing day.
"It's the beginning of a new error in Dodgers baseball"
GO FUCK YOURSELF, ASSHOLE
"I could have written about our new relief pitcher Matt Guerrier, whom the Dodgers are really counting on. Someone maybe youngsters might admire. He's pitched seven years, has five saves and 16 blown saves, but he keeps on trying."
HE'S A MIDDLE RELIEVER YOU POMPOUS JACKASS
I forgot how much I hate that tub of douchebaggery.
Yeah, Marla, I read the Simers piece too.
He's right about some things, but up to his usual shit-stirring hack tricks in most of the column.
Right- the stuff about Gwynn and Navarro
Hacktricks- Stuff about Broxton, Kemp, and best news was Davy Lopes as 1st base coach.
I thought "hacktricks" was appropriate, what with hockey still being played and all.
His whole holier-than-thou attitude really pisses me off. He might as well be saying, "You're all idiots for thinking the Dodgers will do well this year." He then tops it off by spouting crap, such as his pathetic dig at Guerrier, whose signing I didn't even like.
I can feel the hateHateHATE already, and I like it!!
Cc: Spanky
Just perused the official Dodgers website. I noted the "It's Time for Dodger Baseball." as part of the main banner along the top. Anyone know if that's what this season's motto is going to be, or if that's just what they have there now?
Because I really do like it a lot.
I take some solace in the fact that none of the dudes that gave up runs are going to be on the Opening Day roster. Yes, that includes Mr. Future of This Organization.
N P U T
Alannah Myles is the future of this organization!
