Well shit. I was having a good night, too.
I was *this close* from going to bed, but checked the hot stove wire one more time before turning in. So sad that I did! Well, if anything, he seems to have taken less $ than the Yankmes were offering, so it could speak to a genuine desire to find the best and comfortable fit for himself. Refreshing, actually, if that's the case.
Baseball, why do you hurt me so?
Game over, man, game over!
Apparently, spitting on Lee's wife was not a good selling point on the Yankees. I'm as shocked as the rest of you.
Yankmes haven't nabbed a single big ticket offseason FA. Crawfahd - nope. Lee - nope. A Gone - nope. Juan Castro - nope.
Hey guys, Joe Blanton is available!
To paraphrase myself from Twitter, now they have four aces that can't even beat the Giants.
Just like us!
Minus the four aces part.
Odds are one of the four either hits the DL or ends up pitching like crap. I'd say Lee or Hamels to DL, Oswalt or Hamels become crap.
I don't care much for Hamels.
SCREW YOU, @EXTRABAGGS!!! GET YOUR OWN JOKES!!!
I was going to say something, but I figured you'd see it.
Adrian Beltre's the last premier free agent standing.
(insert Sax's obligatory sign-Beltre post here)
I had heard once upon a time that the Angels wanted Lee, and he goes and signs for less than what they supposedly offered Crawford (I'm a poet!). They are having a dismal off-season.
I think teams are starting to catch on to Beltre's only-good-in-contract-years schtick.
I like the FU Lee just pulled on the Yanks. Their fans really didn't put their best effort in endearing themselves to him. I mean spitting on his wife? How bush league.
Maybe it wasn't spit.
Now, if Russ tells the Yanks to take a hike and comes back here, it'll be the best Christmahannukwanzakah ever.
Hopefully Martin looks at Lee and thinks that going back to your old team is the right thing to do.
Worst case is he looks at Werth and Crawford and thinks leaving your team is worth it if you get paid.
Wuh-oh. Ibanez may be on the trade block. Trading for a year of an aging left-fielder that at one time had some pop seems like a patented Ned move.
Crappy fielder? Check. Lefty bat on team filled with lefties? Check. Accusations of steroid use? Check.
Yep. Patented Ned move.
Man,I'm not even going to waste my time with this BULLSHIT.
killKillKILL THE MCCOURTS!!!!
FB's not-so-deep thoughts:
What the hell does Philly have that they can get sweetheart deals from both Halladay and Lee?
When I heard he had signed, I was hoping it was for some 7-8 year deal that would Zito them, but only being on the hook for 5 means they can trade him to the Yanks in a few years.
And doesn't Lee remember being so hurt when they shipped him off to Seattle. He's like a dude who gets his heart broken by the hot girl and comes running back when she texts for a booty call. (a 5-year booty call - not the best analogy, I know). That Philly vajayjay must be amazing
And fuck the phillies and fuck the punkass, blank-shooting yankees
on a positive note, Ja-Rule is going to jail
Not ja-il?
At least the Angels are having a crummy offseason.
I just realized that if Brett Favre does not return this season, his last pass will have been an interception.
It was always his destiny, MLASC.
And the Bills were the team to send him packing. I will take a bit of pride in that
@Mr LA Sports Czar 10:37p: did someone say SIGN BELTRE????
Remember the days when people would want to play for the Dodgers so much, that (like Cliff Lee) they would even take less money for the privilege?
(cries)
re: Ja-Rule: "Minor setback for a major comeback," he tweeted.
Uh, yeah.
