From Dodgers.com:
Charlie Haeger, the apparent front-runner in the murky competition for fifth starter, gets the call Saturday for the Dodgers against Ian Snell and the Mariners at Camelback Ranch. As a knuckleballer, Haeger could almost fill two roles, starting every five days, while coming out of the bullpen once or twice between starts. That versatility is one of the reasons he seems to be highly regarded by management. Haeger will be followed by Russ Ortiz, another contender for the fifth starter spot.

In Cactus League play, the Dodgers have scored a paltry 86 runs in total. This is compared to the next lowest run total of 108 (Cin.) and the highest total of 149 (KC.)
Does this bode ANYTHING for the regular season or am I just experiencing a typical, pre-season cardiac disorder?
Someone?
It could go either way, Neeebs.
That's as reassuring as I can be.
If it makes you feel better, the opening day lineup has hardly been together, be it split squads, Taiwan, injuries, what have you. Today is one of the rare days that the seven locks all play.
At least we have Vin today!
I'd be really surprised if the offense doesn't pull together. I still have my concerns in other areas, though.
Eyechart's gone.
It's tiiiiiiiiiime for Dodger baseball!!!
Interesting to see Ichiro then Figgins as 1st two batters. Both are good leadoff men but I'd find a way to use them better in the lineup.
Huge boo for Parker Brothers. Could hear someone yell "You're a bum!"
Get in Parker Bros' head, Haeger! Throw that 30 MPH special or something. Or hit him.
Vin said Kotchman and Figgins, and I started thinking, "Wait, we aren't playing the Angels."
Damn, I thought that was gone.
Totally forgot Corey Patterson was still alive.
ALMOST Bison-mode. He gave it a good ride.
When a batter misses a knuckleball, they look so lame.
Of course, when they crush one, it doesn't land until next Tuesday.
That knuckleball is a real treat to watch.
Re: Corey Patterson
Anyone who plays for Baltimore seems to vanish from my awareness until they leave. The O's are my MLB blind spot
@Mr. C - So if I asked you who Adam Jones and Nick Markakis are, you'd have no clue? Nolan Reimold? Kevin Millwood?
Manny smack.
Chinface drives in Manny with a double.
@MLASF
Millwood, didn't he use to play for Texas? Nick Markakis is that guy from "The Hangover", right?
As far as I am concerned, George Sherrill sprung fully-formed from Zeus' forehead.
DeWitt singles, Chinface held at third.
Ausmus scores Chinface with a sac-fly. DeWitt takes second. Two away.
Someone has got to be getting this Vin story.
I've never wanted to learn about ox blood more in my life.
Dre killed that ball.
*drops pin*
I'm hanging around, but the boys in blue are doing nada.
I have the game recorded. I can transcribe the Vin blood capsule story if no one else gets to it first.
I guess Carroll can handle short.
What do I do now that the Dodger game is over?
Oh right, March Madness.
BELLY'S BACK, BITCHES (or something along those lines)
Per Dylan Hernandez (via Twitter): Colletti: Belisario expected in AZ later today. Also: Belisario was put on the restricted list yesterday.
Butler pulls off another win. Amazing.
I was at the cantina but recorded the rest of the game. I can transcribe the Vin story if need be.
Yep, Belly's back. Wait, that's about my waistline.
@JoshS, DB
I sent up the flare to transcribe, but I can't type that fast, I couldn't find any device to record.
I've got to remember to have my blackberry around for the voice recorder option, as I am w/o DVR.
RED ALERT! Get Mr. C a DVR, stat! This can't continue.
And I'm not just quoting the Kop End when I say "Red Alert." Mr. C, when are we going to watch some footie? Let's catch a match before the EPL season is out.
@Josh-You want me to take the transcription or are you working on it?
Dusty, earliest I could get to it is late tonight or early tomorrow. If you want to go for it, go for it.
All the baseball card talk motivated me to pick up a couple Topps packs at Target. (I left my scale at home.) I got 2 packs of Topps Series 1 and 2 packs of Topps Opening Day 2010. No Dodgers sadly, but the Opening Day cards for Roy Halladay and Hideki Matsui feature some hilarious Photoshopping on their new uniforms.
@dusty
Field trip!
Seriously, if not before the waning moments of the season, then world cup, definitely.
@Josh - Do they beat the Cliff Lee card with the Harry Kalas patch still on?
@ Mr. C. I watch over at Lucky Baldwin's all the time but am also always up for a trip your way (King's Head or similar?)
I've not taken any vacation yet this year to save up for select Dodger games but large swaths of June/July for the World Cup. Let's make it happen.
@dusty
I used to hang at the King's Head quite a bit, but I've decided that I can't condone a pub with carpet that smells like, well, carpet that's been in a pub.
The Britannia up the street is my one-stop footy shop, but I'm frequently out your way, as well. I'll shoot you my email info.
I can't believe the thread went this long without a single mention of The Penguin's old man sweatpants.
Can we bump Josh's comment to the top?
