STGT: SS vs. Giants, 1p

Matt Kemp dives during Monday's game.

From Dodgers.com:

The Dodgers break camp Wednesday with split-squad games in two states. In the afternoon, they play the final game of the spring at Camelback Ranch-Glendale against the Giants, with Opening Day starter Vicente Padilla pitching for the Dodgers, followed by fifth-starter candidate Russ Ortiz.

Ethan Martin catches now?

We get more people arguing over the battle of the sexes than an actual game thread.

(facepalm)

Josh S. said...

The game hasn't started yet. The battle of the sexes is eternal.

I'm too busy yammering in other places re football (soccer) to engage in a battle of the sexes.

Perhaps I can begin some kind of controversial discussion to increase responses.

GIANTS SUCK!

Wait, is it controversial if everyone agrees?

Josh S. said...

Well, it depends on what they suck.

Oh wait, we all agree on that, too.

I guess it would be worse if everyone picked the Giants to win the division. I mean, seriously, how in any way could somebody say the Giants have improved? DeRosa and Huff? Really? I'm predicting less than 40 homers between the two, and 140 RBI's.

The SF Comical says the only thing standing in the Giants way of an NL West title is the Rockies.

They're still running with the "Russ Ortiz is a fifth-starter candidate"? He must have one hell of a publicist. I'm pretty sure he's not a candidate anymore. "Ortiz" was crossed out in both the cave and the lighthouse.

Josh S. said...

Damn. Forgot about Ramon when I made that reference.

Kyle Baker said...

Lindblom re-assigned, per TBLA.

Kyle Baker said...

Scott Dohmann scheduled to pitch later today.

Oh, will we have fun with the last name implications. "D'ohman!"

MR.F said...

But which Ortiz could the cave possibly be referring to? Are they both candidates?!

Josh S. said...

We have to protect them both until we know for sure.

*cough*NERDS!*cough*

Fack. Only the SF feed available on At Bat.

Can the season start now please?

Kyle Baker said...

RB, are you catching your match?

Keystone Koppery breaks out...2-0 Gints.

Effing Giants.

I hate those guys.

It sounded like Reed Johnson was everywhere the ball wasn't.

Josh S. said...

That was better, Reed.

Why does Juan Uribe always manage to find his home run stroke against us?

Kyle Baker said...

Nice outing for VPad.

Aaron Rowand is leading all spring batters in average.

All the evidence you need to know that ST numbers mean nothing.

From Big League Stew's NL West preview:

But who's going to present the strongest challenge to Colorado?

WE'RE THE DEFENDING DIVISION CHAMPS, YOU IDIOTS. THEY'RE CHALLENGING US!

Kyle Baker said...

I'm beginning to feel like Rodney Dangerfield with all this NL West lack of respect going around.

Josh S. said...

Guys, it's pointless to resist. Let's all buy Tulo jerseys and start speaking only in rhetorical questions.

Kyle Baker said...

Tool-o.

Nostradamus said...

@Josh S

Are the Rockies not tied for the best record in the NL west?

I rest my case.

Kyle Baker said...

Resistance is futile, one might say?

Josh S. said...

In all seriousness, the Rockies' run last year was the definition of "lightning in a bottle". Now they have to live up to everybody's expectations.

I like that no one thinks we're going to do anything. It will make it all the more satisfying when we do.

Man, I forgot all about John Ely.
