All this talk about how wonderful Manny Ramirez is, and then the 2008 NL MVP results are released and Ramirez' fourth-place finish isn't even strong enough to outvote beanstalk Ryan Braun:

The article does go on to say that Manny pocketed an extra $75K for his fourth-place finish, while Braun pocketed $50K for a better finish in the votes.

What most people forget is that there is a rule in Major League Baseball that if a player is traded from one league to the other all of his stats do not get carried over. As a result Ramirez while doing an outstanding job for the Los Angeles Dodgers in his 10 week span, was really not in the running for MVP because all of his season's stats didn't count, according to all the baseball writters who are the people who vote on these awards.
The true measure of an MVP is the one person that was the most outstanding member and achieved a level of performance that helped his team the most and that person was Manny Ramirez but as I just stated the baseball writters didn't see it that way.
