Post-Game 75 Thread: DON'T PANIC

DEVIL RAYS 9, DODGERS 4

So the Dodgers just dropped two of three to one of the worst teams in the league. So the Dodgers are in Operation Comfort-a-Former-Dodger mode. This doesn't mean Ned should trade for some rent-a-bat who won't help us get past the first round of the playoffs—if we make it at all.

Especially since Andy LaRoche just went on the DL, Ned might be tempted to trade one of our other coveted youngsters for, say, Adam Dunn or Troy Glaus. Instead, Grady should do whatever he needs to do to keep James Loney and Matt Kemp in the lineup. I want to see these guys play every day, even at the expense of post-season play this year.

Our solution for a 3rd baseman is over there playing 1st. Move Nomar to 3rd, Loney everyday at 1st. if Mr Glass Nomar gets hurt, we still have Abreu to play there. If Loney gets the rookie jitters, Kent to first, Abreu to 2nd.

Agreed. And I think Loney is way past the rookie jitters.

Hey the score was 9-4 not 9-2

Thanks, nice catch. I guess it only felt like a 9-2 loss.

Oh, I'm definitely in Panic mode. The Dodgers left too many men on base in the TB series to make one think that the lineup, or hitting philosophies, are sound. Grady better get to work, and fast.

Step 1: Do not put Lieberthal in any game you expect to have a shot at winning.

You're panicking over a 42 win team? You do realize that the Dodgers (and the Padres) have the second best record in the NL (behind the playing-over-their-heads Diamondbacks), don't you?

Not to say that there aren't concerns (outfield defense, zero production out of 1st and 3rd, Bad Penny's eventual appearance in the 2nd Half, etc.), but let's not panic.

Regarding anonymous' post, oddly Dodgerblues.com also reported the score was 9-2.

Dodgers scored two in the ninth (on a JAMES LONEY home run!) long after most of us had turned off the game.
